Show ahr m CART BEFORE THE HORSE are we getting the cart before the horse in our road building are we spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on canyon roads to scenic attractions for comparatively few tourists and neglecting the roads which traverse our entire county and which are used daily summer and wi iter by hundreds of people ill siy siv we w e are it is a fact published b adrast that the worst piece of road on the entire arrowhead trail is is in iron county par ticul artly between parowan carowan and the beaver county line with some which is little better between hamiltons rort fort and the washington co line the one thing travelers through iron county I 1 remember is that after reading the little sign on the boundary line between f us and beaver coun county ty they encounter the worst road an the trip from salt lake city to the coast it is surely good advert advertising icing i it t it is a very fine thing to build canyon roads road s and of course the splendid work which is being done in our otar canyons must not stop until it is completed but the action of the mass meeting on saturday night in appointing a committee to meet with the state road commission in an effort to get some work done on the arrowhead trail through our 0 ur county should have the approval of every citizen of the county and we should keep hammering until we get that wo work rk done there has been considerable sid erable agitation fora for a longtime long time on the part of milford and delta citizens to switch the arrowhead trail off somewhere beyond fillmore down through delta milford and minersville Miners ville then into cedar city and unless we unite in demanding that our road be improved im impi oved they are not going to experience much difficulty one of these days in putting 9 that thin thing gover over there is of iron countes Coun tys bond money available for the road between cedar city and the beaver county line and if it is impossible for the state to duplicate that amount mo lint as they are pledged to do I 1 then a strenuous effort should be made to have the road commission liberate the countes Coun tys rn money ny at least and have it expended as quickly as possible it ought not to be difficult however in view of a recent expression of the state road commis commission sion that hat mountain roads should be the last consideration and that highways should receive first attention to get some money for the question and certainly that is the thing to w which hieb our efforts efferts should be diorec directed bcd because of the fact however that our canyon road is receiving no support from the state or fede federal ral government any attempt to carry out the policy they favor will not affect us and the one and only thing for us to lo do until we can get action on tile the j trail is to push our canyon road it must be put over this summer no matter what else happens J |
