Show thanksgiving SERVICES delightful appreciated program given under auspices auspice of haydn society thanksgiving morning a large number of the citizens of parowan carowan met at the tabernacle and listened to loan an excellent program arrange arranged d by the haydn society it was fully appreciated and every number was calculated to instill into the hearts of those present a feelis feeling ig of gen genuine aine thankfulness the band under prof eckles dispensed several selections which gave to the listeners a felling of peace and happiness and each number rendered was appreciated by old and young alike the opening song praise ye the father was given by members of the haydn society and was sung with a feeling such as has seldom been manifested by singers heretofore in parowan carowan Pa rowan the members of the society had been faithfully drilled by prof eckles and they acquited acquit ed themselves to his entire satisfaction as well as the audience which sat entranced during the rendition after the opening song members of the fifth grade of the district school gave a drill in which which each expressed himself hiross lf as to what he was most thankful for the class did exceptionally well and the responses res pones were hearty and sincere walter C mitchell offered up a thanksgiving prayer full of feeling and thankfulness to god for the many blessings showered upon his children in this land of peace and plenty after the prayer rev C S rice delivered a most powerful thanksgiving sermon taking ghis his text from the one hundred and sixth psalm first verse 0 give thanks unto the lord for he is good his mercy dureth Endure En ih forever it is said eaid by those who heard rev rice that this was one of the best thanksgiving sermons ever given in parowan carowan Pa rowan and it was listened to with rapt and close attention one of the most pleasing vocal solos ever given herein recent years was that rendered by prof eckles entitled glory composed by the famous author buzzi peccia mr eckles was at his best and was filled with wih the spirit of singing and made the hearts of hi his hearers thrill with happiness and peace mrs M rs eleanor bruhn gave a thanksgiving poem composed by the noted american poet riley her rendition was par excellent and the hundreds who were present were highly delighted the closing number was a piano selection by mrs nina barber of los angeles the lady played with artistic skill and held her audience spellbound during her ance it is seldom that the people of par owan are given the privilege of listening to one me who is so proficient on the piano and all who heard her were delighted at the close of the program david matheson pronounced the benediction edic tion thus closing one of the most enjoyable thanksgiving services that has ever been held in par owan |
