Show Brave Talk I By JULIE WASHBURN It has been an exciting week at Bountiful filled with learning experiences and new understandings Heres Here's a tribute tribute tri tri- bute to all institutions for better bettel learning Frankly this weeks week's article is going to be different from the regular routine High School News Id I'd like to let you people know what High School is really all about ASSUMING NG this past week has been a typical week at Bountiful High heres here's an excerpt of what learning is all about At thirty eight-thirty every morning morning morning morn morn- ing twelve hundred kids hear the sound of a loud bell that that- tells them its it's time to sta stat tJ school Well Vell then a man ora or a woman starts to relate to those kids And they begin to express values and ideas of society EDUCATION in an American Ameri Ameri- can Problems class is differ dUfer- ent from education in a Math class but theres there's always one element involved theres there's a desire that a teacher has to communicate with his stu stu- dents No teacher has to be bethere bethere bethere there they just are Because they desire for the youth of today to feel and understand what this world is all about Theres There's a head man of every school Hes He's the guy that gets all the nasty phone calls from uptight parents Hes He's the guy that has to understand every side of every situation Every principal of every school has hasto hasto hasto to have some superhuman quality that makes him able to put up with all the phoney- phoney that certain sources seem to inevitably provide So he takes it all and handles handles handles han han- every situation with tact and understanding but of course no one ever hears about all this HOURS GO by with five minute breaks in between classes Complaints go by ignored ignored ignored ig ig- ig- ig nored and comments of sar sar- sting some reprimanded reprimand ed others forgotten But it its it's s snot snot not the time spent in those classrooms learning how to calculate mathematical problems problems problems lems that creates a learning experience Its It's the time spent in those classrooms learning how to concentrate on those mathematical problems without without without with with- out your mind wandering that creates the learning exper exper- Its It's all a beautiful process process process pro pro- cess that very few people ever stop to look at and appreciate There are a lot of people at Bountiful High who are dedicated dedicated dedicated dedi dedi- to that process The administration administration administration ad ad- ministration and a lot of the are involved in its organization and function on Last night a career was held at the school It was designed to offer students a chance to consider where they're going to take themselves after they graduate BUT THE learning process process pro pro- process cess doesn't stop there It continues continues continues con con- on when twelve hundred hundred hundred hun hun- dred students gath gather r together in one auditorium for enter enter- Any time you get getan getan getan an audience centered on one source of action and theres there's theresa a reaction laughter hurt disappointment disappointment disappointment dis dis- dis- dis appointment theres there's s a learning learning learning learn learn- ing experience Theres There's a unity in a school You belong to Bountiful High so what Well heres here's what you belong to an institution of people people who are all aU involved involved in involved in- in in in a process of growth So be proud You identify with it and other people identify identify identify iden iden- you with it EDUCATION IS an important important important tant part of living Its It's what Bountiful High is all about People grow and theres there's a adeep adeep adeep deep satisfaction to be gained from it Heres Here's a sincere appreciation appreciation ap ap- ap- ap preci to all people involved involved involved in in- in its process |
