Show CCilby resigns as Park City J.P. James Kilby, Park City justice of the peace has tendered his resignation to Mayor Jack Green. The resignation is effective immediately. im-mediately. Kilby, known in Park City as Judge Kilby, has moved from his Marsac Municipal Building offices to the Park Meadows Plaza where he will continue to act as the Summit County precinct justice of the peace. The city position, which he has filled since 1978, is appointive. The county position, which he has filled since 1964, is elective. His present term with the county began in January of this year. , In a Wednesday interview with the Record, Kilby said he had given Green his resignation because he couldn't reach a budget agreement with the city. "We were miles apart," he said. Kilby said he couldn't discharge the duties of his office with an inadequate staff. "I had good people working for me but it couldn't be done on a part time basis." Mayor Green said that Kilby gave him notice "a few days ago" that he would leave. "I don't know exactly why he's leaving," Green said. "He has been an excellent justice of the peace." Green appointed Kilby to the city justice post in 1978. "The city has in fact looked into going with the Circuit Court at the first of the year," Green said. He added that this may have been a consideration considera-tion in Kilby's leaving. "It is prudent to investigate going with the Circuit Court," Green said. The issue is due to be discussed at today's meeting of the City Council. |
