Show For the record . Editor's note: Because our holiday deadlines were earlier than normal last week, this letter did not make it into the Jan. 2 edition as the writer expected. Editor: At our last city council work session, ses-sion, I made a comment regarding Randy Fields and the Little Red House, a portion of which was quoted in last week's (Dec. 26) Park Record. Prior to making the comment, com-ment, I asked the press to be sure and quote the entire comment if you chose to quote me at all . . . you didn't. For the record, the part you didn't print was that both Randy Fields and the Fields Companies are now and have always been good for Park City. The problems experienced by both Fields and the city have their roots in both camps . . . Randy won't come talk to us directly and in the past the city has asked Randy and other developers to do things that don't make economic sense. Developers when faced with the do-it-or-else position of the city, promise to do things in order to get an approval. Later, when they find out that there is no way they can possibly do what they've promised, they renege and we all look stupid. If we all try harder to make sure that the promises we make and the . promises we extract are reasonable, we'll all be better off. One way to do this is to talk to each other directly, not through third parties including the press, because it's not in their best interest for us to get along ... it doesn't sell papers. Sincerely, Al Horrigan |
