Show Summer weather heats up construction June's long-awaited warm weather has apparently thawed out Park City's construction con-struction industry. "Building had been slow due to the cold weather," said Dawn Jensen, administrative ad-ministrative secretary for the Park City Building Department. "But when the weather broke, construction activity broke with it." The late winter bunched new construction permits in June instead of spreading them through May and June. "Last year our big surge came in May, but our bad weather this year has put us behind," said Jensen. This year, 62 permits were issued in June with a $3,052,412.03 valuation. The May figure was an anemic 24 permits with a valuation of $475,618.28. In comparison, the figures for June 1982, a healthy construction year, show only 35 permits with a valuation of $904,658.62. Although this year's June surge was big, it was not enough to push the 1983 year ahead of 1982. Through June, total 1983 valuation was $12,043,828.54. Last year's figure was $18,336,679.50. Jensen doesn't see this gap continuing for long. "This month or next should put us up about where we were last year," she said. Jensen is confident that, by year's end, last year's figures will be surpassed. |
