Show New Store Promotes 'Sporting Life' Motif apiiwiii'w'v mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm- mm u mnmmmmmmm----wt vwwv.". . i x ' l - p 0 -11 h i 1 iZi . .. ..... . , f5! J French and English country coun-try sporting . themes are finding their way into more and more American homes, businesses and institutions as a growing fascination continues in this country with "gentlemanly" sports like fly fishing, skeet shooting, shoot-ing, upland game and duck hunting. Touches of the "sporting life" are found in many Park City homes and condos, particularly in Deer Valley, where heavy timber and stone construction lends itself well to trophy elk heads, 51b. mounted brook trout, antique bamboo Orvis rods, English hunting scenes, scen-es, duck stamp prints and all ; the other trappings associat ed with the new order of interior design. One of the principal proponants of the trendy new design approach in Park City is interior designer Elizabeth Jackson, a recent transplant from Reno, Nev. Her demeanor would fit nicely into the typical 1930's English murder mystery. The new resident, who is comfortable in clumpy tweeds and practical boots, has recently opened "Ducks Limited" a new Main St. store that sells sporting art of every type. Jackson, an avid skeet shooter, said the new design approach is catching on because people are "incor- ij.rtiirafiwiriiirrniiiu imrmr Trtiw rt-'"itnwi-iTi-T-inwwngitiijiiirf V fe wwrtw)iw Elizabeth Jackson and "Sporting Art." porating more of the outside into the inside of their homes." The new store at 355 Main St. (formerly the location of Cartier's) is decorated with important French Provincial antiques collected by Jackson Jack-son over the years. Most noticeable in the shop is duck art, one of the mainstays of "sporting" interior design. There are duck pillows, duck decoys, duck prints, duck coasters, duck placemats, duck cocktail cock-tail glasses. There are wood ducks, china ducks, stuffed ducks, duck phones, duck clocks,, duck lamps, duck fireplace tools and duck firewood holders. Truly, there are unlimited ducks. Jackson participated in this year's Ducks Unlimited fundraising dinner, not as a guest, but as one of the chefs who prepared the excellent wild game dinner. Jackson, who is sometimes affectionately called the Mduck lady", is a trustee of a Pennsylvania medical college col-lege and an avid golfer in Park City. |
