Show Condo Sacked Don Haynsworth reported a number of items missing from a Crescent Ridge condo Jan. 13. On the no-where-to-be-found list are a fur coat, several watercolors and assorted household items'Avorth $350. 'Scrungy Kids' A Park City woman reported receiving harassing phone calls last week from a youthful male caller who said she had "scrungy kids." The caller left a name, but when the woman called him back, the man whose name had been given denied making the calls and said he was receiving similar calls himself. On a subsequent call, the unknown caller reached the woman's husband and said, "you're as dingy as your wife and you're both probably on cocaine," according to the police report. Window Smashed Amy Myer's car window was broken Jan. 12 in front of her-951 her-951 Woodside Ave. residence. The culprits stole nothing, but did crush a pair of $56 Vuarnet sunglasses, according to the police report. Rough Night Out A Park City man was discovered by authorities "thrashing about in a snowbank" this week, not far from his apartment. Officers were called to the Prospector vicinity by a report that someone was "screaming for help" in the area. Roberts, who said he had "started out from Main St. on foot" was arrested for public intoxication because he was at the point of endangering himself," according to the police report. Menacing Phone Call Rent-A-Rip-Off A National Rent-A-Car leased by Paul Cannon of Youngstown, N.Y. vanished Jan. 15 from a parking space along Main Street's 500 block. Officers concluded the car was neither impounded by the city nor picked up by the car rental firm. A search continues for the missing vehicle. Guitar Blues A boistrous argument over the value of a guitar drew officers to Wolfe's at Holiday Village Mall Jan. 13. According to the police report, Rick Allen, an employee at the store, was confronted by one Rolando Avila, also of Park City. Allen had apparently sold Avila a guitar for $150 and later a friend had advised the buyer the instrument "wasn't worth $50. " Allen said he could prove it was worth $200 and both were warned by investigating officers to settle the matter peaceably. No Window, No Tapes A window was smashed out of Ken Willden's Ford pickup at the resort parking lot Jan. 13 by thieves who took a tape caddy with 50 country and western cassettes valued at $300. A similar crime was reported by Norinne McKinney the same day. The woman claimed her VW suffered a broken window and a purse containing $10 in cash and a pair of contact lenses valued at $300 were missing. Both McKinney and Willden are Park City residents. Kid's Grass A student at Treasure Mountain Middle School was found in possession of marijuana on campus Jan. 12 and the youths parents M ere called. An unpleasant circumstance at Judy MacMahon's residence Jan. 12 sent the Park City Library Director to stay with friends for the night, while routine patrols were increased around her Norfolk Ave. duplex. Earlier in the evening MacMahon received a call from a man who identified himself as "Jim Gebhart." The caller said a Don Garnas had given him permission to stay in MacMahon's apartment that night. MacMahon, who was admittedly dumbfounded by the announcement, told Gebhart, or whatever his name was, the proposition was absolutely out of the question. The caller then said he planned to stay at the apartment regardless, according to the police report. The Library Director immediately called Garnas who said he knew nothing of the arrangement nor of anybody named Gebhart. Drink and Toss A Salt Lake man was cited Jan. 14 for drinking in public and littering. The suspect was confronted by a PCPD officer after he was observed with an open can of beer on Main St. When asked to dispose of the can and its contents, the suspect threw it into a vacant lot. Purse Pilfered Kathy Colgan, an employee at Wolfe's in Holiday Village Mall placed her purse under a sales counter at the store Jan. 15. When she went to retrieve it at the end of the day it was gone, along with a wallet containing $10 in cash, credit cards and checks. Off the Track PCPD officers were called this week to assist in the evacuation of 30 people stranded in the snow about a mile from the Fairway Village condos on the periphery of the new Jack Nicklaus golf course. The group was on a horse drawn sleigh ride when a sled runner broke stranding the guests. Officers were in the process of rounding up snowmobiles for the rescue when the owner of the sleigh called to advise he had located snowmobiles and was in the process of evacuating the sleigh-riders. Burglaries Related ? PCPD "officers believe three Park Aye. condo burglaries Jan. 15 are related. The three units in the brick complex were apparently all entered between 8 p.m. and midnight and by similar methods. The police report indicates the robbers climbed up to second floor balconies of the units and forced their way in. At a condo owned by Resort Ex, a time sharing firm, two pictures and a microwave oven turned up missing. At that unit $80 in damage was caused when the culprits tried unsuccessfully to remove a television attached to the wall. A unit owned by Arnold Sperling of Pacific Pallisades, Calif., was reported "ransacked" and jewelry valued at around $1,000 was taken. Jane Nanchach's unit was also "ransacked" that night and $400 in cash removed from a purse left in the bathroom of the condo, she said. Plumbing Purloined Plumbing fixtures worth an estimated $1,944 were taken from a Cache condo under construction at Silver Lake Jan. . T , '-. v- . s V |
