Cafe Alfredo's offers a bit of Italy to P.C. by Randy Hanskat If you like the Spaghetti Factory in Salt Lake then you'll love Cafe alfredo's in Park City. That's what Abdi Sharifan, Shari-fan, owner of Park City's newest restaurant, says. His place, Cafe Alfredo's, is located in the old Padre's Mexican Restaurant location loca-tion at 1492 Park Ave. You'll only find spaghetti and pizza on the menu. Ah, but there are 11 kinds of spaghetti. There is the traditional spaghetti with meat sauce, Spaghetti al Sugo di Came. Then there is spaghetti with butter sauce, or mushroom sauce, or meat balls, or white clam sauce, or even a spicy bacon meat sauce called Spaghetti all Amatriciana. And with that spaghetti the customer gets a good deal, says Sharifan. It comes with a green salad, French bread, a beverage, and ice cream for dessert. All that only costs $5.45 to $5.95, quite a bargain for Park City, says Sharifan. Then there is the pizza. Cafe Alfredo's pizza cook spent some time in Italy, Sharifan explained, so he learned the right way to make pizza. A special deal is the Little Alfredo's, an eight-inch pizza with any two toppings for $3.45. He says his business has kept growing every night since the restaurant's Jan. 1 opening. Much of that business busi-ness has been repeat. He estimates that out of the 70 or so customers he serves every night, 25 are repeat. "Cafe Alfredo's is basically basical-ly a place for people who love spaghetti and pizza, so we concentrate only on those items," Sharifan said. He thinks his food, which is high in carbohydrates, is perfect for skiers. And his prices will earn and keep a good local following, he hopes. Currently only the downstairs down-stairs portion of the two-story two-story restaurant is open, with a capacity of about 90 people. Sharifan is thinking about making the upstairs into an ice cream parlor or a bar, but that is still up in the air. Cafe Alfredo's is open from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 4:30 to 10:30 Friday and Saturday. |
