Show Police look for stolen skis, wrestle with local drunks The Park City Police Department has been kept busy lately with reports of stolen skis and ski racks. And when they aren't chasing down those missing boards, the police have been wrestling with public intoxication. in-toxication. On Jan. 20, Park City Police responded to a call describing a person harassing people in the Dairy Queen parking lot. Apparently the subject, a 22-year-old Midway man, had been bothering girls there, the report said. When the officers of-ficers made contact with the subject they found him verbally ver-bally abusive and physically combative. Officers had to wrestle the subject to the ground in order to handcuff him. The subject kicked and spit at officers all the way to the Coalville jail, the report said. Upon a routine search at the jail, officers found a "baggie" of marijuana on his person. He was booked for public intoxication, - assaulting an officer and possession of a controlled substance. Also on Jan. 20, Park City police responded to a call at the Poison Creek Club at Janeauxls. The police found a 23-year-old man who was too drunk to stay seated on his bar stool. The man's residence is listed as the Snow Country condominiums. con-dominiums. When police tried to escort the subject home he became combative, the report states. Later, out side the bar, the subject urinated on the police vehicle at which time he was arrested and booked into the county jail. Park City police observed two men being ejected from The Club on Main Street on the evening of Jan. 22. Upon investigation, the officers were informed by the door man that no assistance was necessary. However, one hour later, the offficers observed ob-served the same two men fighting in Swede Alley. According Ac-cording to the report, the two men are Ogden residents and were booked into the county jail on $54 bail each. On Jan. 17, Park City Police responded to a report of violence at the Black Pearl bar on Main Street. Upon arrival, police found that the doorman at the bar had pinned to the floor a 34-year-old man who appeared to be intoxicated. The doorman door-man told police that the man had been physically and verbally abusive with some of the employees and patrons of the bar. The subject sub-ject became violent with the officers when they tried to take him into custody, according ac-cording to the report. He was booked into the county jail on $1,500 bail. Seven instances of ski theft were reported to the Park City Police this past week. Arrested on charges of felony theft is Cynthia Mayer, 19-year-old of 2335 Comstock and 23-year-old Erin Ellen Empey also of 2335 Comstock. The police arrested the two in connection connec-tion with a Jan. 18 report by Mike Kutcher who has stated that he witnessed the two walk pffwith his skis, Rossignol FP with Salomon 737 bindings, from the Park City Ski Area Plaza. Carl Winters reported his skis stolen from the Park City Ski Area Plaza on Jan. 19. The K2 model 812 skis and Salomon bindings are valued at $400. Dan Israel reported his Dynastar skis with Salomon 627 bindings were stolen from the resort plaza on Jan. 17. The skis are valued at $440. On Jan. 16, John Moore reported the theft of his Hex-cel Hex-cel skis with Salomon 444 bindings and a pair of Scott poles. The equipment, stolen from the Ski Area Plaza, is valued at $350. Also on Jan. 16, K.L. Mauss of Salt Lake City reported the theft of his Dynastar MV5 skis with Marker M40 bindings from the plaza. The equipment is valued at $350. David Redfern of Fruit Heights, Utah also reported a ski theft on Jan. 16. He told police that his PRE 1200 skis with Salomon 737 bindings were stolen from the Park City Ski Area Plaza. The equipment is valued at $320. On Jan. 21, Chris Montegut of Laplace, Louisianna reported the theft of his Rossignol SM skis with Salomon 637 bindings from the Park City Ski Area Plaza. The equipment is valued at $350. Ken Bethers of Heber reported stolen his Dynastar Omniglass skis with Salomon 727 bindings from the plaza. The skis are valued at $225. And Rodney Goodrich told police that while his car was parked in the Snow Park parking lot at Deer Valley the ski rack along with his skis were stolen from the top of his car. The PRE 1200 SP skis with Marker bindings, Scott poles and the Barrecrafter ski rack are valued at $550. On Jan. 23, Tom Stover of Park City reported the theft of a pick-up truck. Stover told police that while he was getting a hair cut on Main Street, someone stole a pickup pick-up truck he was driving, which belongs to TWT Exploration, Ex-ploration, from Swede Alley. The truck is described as a 1981 Chevrolet, gray with a red interior. There were four instances in-stances of stolen ski racks reported to the Park City police during the past week. On Jan. 20, Steven Leven of Milwaukee, Wisconsin reported that during the night of Jan. 19 a Bic ski rack was taken from the top of his Hertz rental car. Also on Jan. 20, Allen Nissen, Tar-zana, Tar-zana, California, told police that a ski rack was stolen from the Avis rental car he was driving. The theft occurred oc-curred at the Shadow Ridge underground parking lot. An Ontario Canada man, R. Reed, reported to the police that a ski rack was stolen from the rental car he was driving while it was parked in the Snowflower Condominium underground parking lot on the night of Jan. 22. And Chris Myers of Woodlands, Texas reported that on the night of Jan. 17 someone had stolen a rented ski rack from his 1983 Mercury. Mer-cury. On Jan. 22, Dan L. Pope of Logan told police that on the night of Jan. 21 someone had entered his locked Porsche while it was parked at Skiers Lodge and had taken an in-dash in-dash stereo, speakers, power booster and a box of cassette tapes. The goods are valued at $1200. Linda Morris told police on Jan. 18 that all four tires on her 1982 American Motors Eagle stationwagon had been slashed while the auto was parked at the Lakesdie Condominiums. The tires are valued at $400. On Jan. 16, Dave Miller reported to Park City Police that someone had taken a 225 AC welder from the construction con-struction site of the Main Street Marketplace. The welder, which is blue and white in color, is valued at $200. On Jan. 22, Park City police arrested a 26-year-old Park City man for DUI. The man was stopped after police witnessed his vehicle travelling the wrong way on a one-way street. After failing sobriety tests, he was booked into the county jail. A 52-year-old Salt Lake City man was arrested for DUI on Jan. 19 when officers witnessed his vehicle driving in an erratic manner down Park Avenue. His car was impounded and he was booked into the county jail on $556 bail. Fifth Circuit Court Tim Naylor of 4700 Namba Way in Salt Lake City was found guilty of DUI in Judge Larry Keller's Fifth Circuit Court. Naylor was sentenced on Jan. 11 to six months in jail and fined $299. The jail sentence will be suspended upon payment of the fine. Additionally, Keller will pay $100 into the state's victim vic-tim restitution fund as well as $150 which will go toward various alcohol treatment programs. Also on Jan. 11, Gary Anderson An-derson of Kamas was sentenced sen-tenced for DUI. He was sentenced sen-tenced to six months in jail and fined $299. The jail sentence sen-tence will be suspended upon payment of the fine. Additionally, Ad-ditionally, Anderson will pay restitution of $1,500 to pay for a damaged utility pole. Anderson will also pay $100 into the state's victim restitution fund and $150 for alcohol treatment programs. Robert Dean Theobald, P.O. Box 1602, Park City was found guilty of alcohol related reckless driving and sentenced on Jan. 13. He had been arrested for DUI. He was fined $250 and placed on six months probation. |
