Show Ski racers sought for battle of the beverages It isn't being promoted as an annual event, but maybe it could be: the Park City Ski Area Back-To-Back Battle of the Beverages. W hether by accident or design, this weekend the ski area will be hosting, on consecutive days, races sponsored by two of the West's favorite liquid refreshments, refresh-ments, Coors and Coca-Cola. Here, for the benefit of drinkers and skiers alike, are the j: details: , On Friday, Feb. 1, the CoorsSpalding-Caber Ski Race Tour comes to town for a day of running gates followed by an hour of running to the restroom. For an entry fee of $10, each contestant will receive a Coors Ski Team hat, sun tan lotion, ski wax and a race bib which doubles as a ticket to the 3 p.m. awards party (where free Coors beer will be served). Lift tickets will be half price for participants. Registration (unlimited) will take place at the ski area from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the race to begin on Clementine at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each of the following age divisions (men and women): under 18, 18 to 30, and 31 and over. Each contestant in the seven-. seven-. race Coors tour will be entered in " a drawing for a pair of airline tickets good on any American Airlines route worldwide. That drawing is scheduled to be held April 5 in Boreal, California, site of the final race in the series. If you're , still feeling sane, sober and spunky Saturday morning, you can go right back to the ski area for the Real Thing: the Coca-Cola Cup, which visits a different Utah ski area each Saturday. Here's how it works: Registration (limited to the first 200) begins at 8 a.m. in a trailer at the upper parking lot. Registration Registra-tion is free and entitles you to a discount price on a lift ticket: $12 for adults, $6 for kids 12 and under. Racing is scheduled to begin with a division for handicapped skiers at 9:30 a.m. Other divisions (there are 16 age groups for men and women) will begin at 10 a.m. KSL Radio will be awarding a number of prizes via on-air contests and drawings. A special 10-minute program on KSL-TV Sunday night will recap Saturday's Satur-day's results.
