Show Stars To Shine For U.S. Team The United States Ski Team Celebrity Classic will be bringing a large cross-section cross-section of Hollywood and New York personalities to town on Feb. 9, 1983. The event, running Febru-I Febru-I ary 9 through 12, will feature such personalities as Connie , Stevens, Jan Michael Vincent Vin-cent LaVar Burton, "E.T.'"s Drew Barrymore, jjohnny Lee, Linda Gray, jPeter Yarrow, Jimmy Webb, Robert Urich, Melanie Chartoffand Lorna Patterson of ' Private Benjamin. ' Gary Collins and wife Mary Ann Mobley will also join last year's participants Steve Kanaly, Sarah Purcell, Dick Van Patten and sons Jimmy and Nels, Bruce Jenner, Cindy Morgan, Ruth Buzzi, David Birney and Meredith Baxter-Birney, Ed Ames, , John Havlicek and George Schlatter. Dynasty stars John James and Tab Hunterf Susan Sullivan and Abby Dalton of "Falcon Crest"; and Jane Seymour, Linda Gray and Morgan Brittany, Susan Howard and Charlene Tiltpn f , if ! t I I 1 I I I .i t!t't?tt' of "Dallas"; will add their names as well to the growing roster of celebrities skiing the Park City slopes to raise money for the on-going support of the world-wide celebrated U.S. Ski Team. The four-day fund-raising event will draw national and world-wide media attention and attendance according to director Steve Kemp. Race times are February 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the public is invited, free of charge, to cheer on their favorite teams. For those individuals not wishing to ski, public events are scheduled such as the opening ceremonies to be held Thursday, February 10 at the Park City Resort Plaza. Ice Castles skating star Lynn Holly Johnson will be featured featur-ed on the plaza ice rink at 10:00 a.m. in a beautifully choreographed salute to the U.S. Ski Team and participating participa-ting celebrities. James Bond fans will also remember Lynn's skating prowess in the opening scenes of "For Your Eyes Only." Additional entertainment and pagentry will greet plaza guests as ' well, 1 Thursday evening, beginning begin-ning promptly at 7:30 p.m., the traditional Torchlight Parade will feature Park City Ski Patrol members winding down the mountain as over 300 aerial bursts of fireworks illuminate the night's sky. Pyro-Spectacular and Osmond Os-mond Entertainment arc producing the event. The long wait that many viewers experienced last year prior to the fireworks show will not be experienced by this year's audience. Event coordinators assure attendees this year of not only a prompt start to the 7:30 show, but a bigger and better show altogether. Laser Las-er effects will highlight the evening's spectacular. Races begin at 10 a.m. Friday, February 11, with all races being held on the Claimjumper Run. Celebrity Team Races (16 teams of 10 members each) will continue Friday until 3 p.m. and all day Saturday from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. Locals are encouraged to come out and cheer for such Park City skiers as Jack and Gloria Johnson, John Vrabel, Stein and Francoise Eriksen, Danielle Dan-ielle Bean, Iadd and Nancy Christensen, Greg and Marilyn Mari-lyn Nelson, Craig Badami, Phil Jones, Don Brady, and John and AnnaMaria MacMillian. In addition to the free ceremonies and races, Park-ites Park-ites are encouraged to financially support the U.S. Ski Team while having a wonderful time at two super special events. The first, "An Evening at Deer Valley," is Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m. and costs $25 per person. For that price guests will enjoy an open bar, Deer Valley's famous buffet dinner, and special entertainment by Peter Yarrow, Jesse Colin Young, John McQuen of the Dirt Band, "Poco", and the dance band, Street Angel. On Saturday, February 12, at 7 p.m. the now-famous Black Tie and Bluejean awards dinner will be held again at the Yarrow. The price is $150 per person or $250 per couple. Emcee for the evening will be Marty Cohen of Solid Gold fame, and all of the Osmonds will be on hand with one of their fabulous live performances. Headliners will be Donny Osmond, Marie Osmond, Drew Barrymore (E.T.), Jimmy Webb (song-writer, "MacArthur Park" and others), a surprise female singer, and all the celebrity, Ski Team and local skiers and guests. With an open bar, sit-down dinner, dancing danc-ing to the Osmonds Band, all that entertainment, and the chance to support our U.S. Ski Team, the evening is certain to be a sell-out. Ski Team members who will be on hand to coach the racing reams include Holly Flanders, Cindy Oak, Pam Fletcher, Maria Maricich, Mike Farney and -staffer, Ernst Hager.
