Show American Prints At Art Center The Gloria and Donald B. Marron Collection of American Ameri-can Prints, containing over 100 prints by 27 artists, will open Saturday, June 19, at the Salt Lake Art Center. A reception will be held in the Main Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. The Marron Exhibit, sponsored spon-sored by Mr. and Mrs. John Price, traces the development develop-ment of graphic art from the 1860s through the early 1940s. Prints by Winslow Homer, McNeill Whistler, Lyonel Feininger, Edward Hopper, George Bellows, Will Barnet, Mary Cassatt and John Stuart Curry are included. Dr. Robert Olpin, Chairman of the University of Utah Department of Art, will give the first in a series of lectures on the Marron prints at 6 p.m. during the reception. Other lectures will include: Margaret Carde, adjunct assistant professor of art, University of Utah, discussing discuss-ing printmaking techniques employed in the Marron Collection on Friday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Frank San-guinett, San-guinett, Director of the Utah Museum of Fne Arts, discussing dis-cussing 20th century print-makers print-makers and the early modernist moder-nist movement, on Friday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.; and Katherine Nelson, art historian histor-ian from Westminister College, Col-lege, discussing the chang-American chang-American scene as evidenced eviden-ced by the Marron Collection on Friday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. "Raku by Stan Roberts Works on Paper by Marilyn Miller" will also open on June 19, in the Salt Lake Art Center's Sales Gallery. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Both receptions are free and open to the public. , The exhibitions will run through Aug. 1. |
