about THEY SAW from the mill scale that some communities ran as high as 80 mills and that 46 mills of this amount was for Davis County Schools The family as a whole is well aware of the dally daily routine in the home over the period of the school year Mother is aware of how things go in inthe inthe inthe the morning in getting the family put together and off to school She has contact with the teachers in the school program and the work in the PTA DAD IS well aware of the I drain on the fa family mil budget for clothes and the incidentals called for over the school year This is as it is in every home but what about the 46 mills on the Tax Notice MOST OF Davis County residents have no conception of why school business today today today to to- day has become Big Business Bus Bus- iness They have no conception of the huge amounts of money Davis County has invested in inthe inthe inthe the schools They cant can't imagine the cost of operation and expense expense expense ex ex- ex- ex states state's largest business WHAT ARE the comparable educational demands today with the room one-room school house of seven decades ago We are told we have seen nothing yet So the sole purpose of wind ind and water erosion together have removed about three bil bil- bil- bil lion tons of good croplands inthe in inthe inthe the United States We need only to take a short drive in our own Davis County to notice that in many areas where the ground covering covering covering cover cover- ing has been removed erosion has set in ROADS THAT lead into our mountain canyons when not properly graded gradt and drained soon become eroded as well as the adjoining land Such is the case of the road that continues from Edgehill hill Drive into North Canyon in Bountiful Little or no attention attention attention atten atten- tion has been given to this road and as a result the water and wind have carried away tons of topsoil thus creating little canyons IF SOMETHING is not done to remedy this waste
