Show V YVfi ' W J - hi-km ' it ! ! i i i i ! ' The Dynatones j Dynatones Return to Cowboy 1 The Dynatones are return ing to Park City, this time without Charlie Mussel-white, Mussel-white, to appear at the Cowboy Bar tonight through Saturday, with one show a night at 9 o'clock. Below are some of their personal j observations and a word about their change in style. Is "We wanna play the kind of music that makes people i dance, sweat, and drink!" ; exclaims Big Walter Shuffel- j sworth, bandleader and drummer, about the new musical direction of his Dynatones. Though the Dynatones built a strong reputation with several successful years of accompanying veteran blues-man blues-man Charlie Musselwhite, Walter claims the band wanted "to put a rock beat to it - stay funky, but get more contemporary." With their acclaimed Solid Smoke "Curtain Call" LP collaboration with Mussel-white Mussel-white under their belts, the Dynatones step away from their extensive blues backgrounds back-grounds with a brand of contemporary "rock and soul" that draws heavily from the roots of rhythm and blues. The current Dyna tones repertoire incorporates the '60' s soul styles popularized popular-ized by Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, and Eddie Floyd while maintaining a current rock delivery. With the addition of Danny Meldon Cerretta as lead singer, The Dynatones stage act now has become even more excitin g and visually dynamic. " W e i went through dozens of auditions for the job," said Shuffelsworth, "and when Danny grabbed that microphone, danced across the stage, and belted his first song, I knew the auditons were over!" |
