Show "Dutch" Woolstenhulme 2-Year Commission Candidate It. Am I 1J 3. Correcting County Problems. Pro-blems. "We have many problems, such as poor roads and a poor garbage system. We need to make sure the commission isn't forcing a program on people. Instead, the commission should listen to people's problems and what the people feel will fit then-own then-own needs. At the present time, for example, Weber Canyon people are being assessed for garbage without being provided sufficient services." 4. Being "Absolutely Honest." Ho-nest." "I've served people for 18 years and been absolutely honest. hon-est. It's a matter of personal pride with me. A commission has to be an honest representative, representa-tive, and straight. I'll never be two-faced with anyone. I might step on some people's toes telling the truth, but that's the way I have to be." 5. Keep City and County Government Separate. "In a part-time commission situation, we need a representative representa-tive from all parts of the courty. I don't think Bruce Decker has any business running for representative repre-sentative from the Kamas area. The four-year commissioner will be from Park City. It would be a sad thing if the two-year commissioner com-missioner also was, and Park City ran the county. "If we had a full-time com-. com-. mission, it would be different, because that person would have time to learn the entire county's needs." Dutch Woolstenhulme R. Wendell "Dutch" Woolstenhulme Wool-stenhulme (D) of Oakley is one of three candidates for the two-year two-year county commissioner post, representing Kamas area. "I care about the county," Dutch says. "My roots are here. I am 44, and have lived and worked all those years in Kamas Valley. My wife Aria and I have been married 25 years. We have four kids (two on missions) and six grandchildren. That is why I am concerned about what takes place in our county." Dutch has been the owner and operator of an independent service ser-vice station in the county for 18 years, as well as a beef rancher and farmer. He feels that a county commissioner "has to be self-employed so he can have the flexibility and time to do the job right." The most important commission commis-sion qualifications, Dutch feels, are "hard work, honesty, and being a representative for the whole county. If elected, I would not work just for the people of the South Summit area, or for special interest groups. I would try to take into consideration the needs of the whole county, and represent them, as well as representing re-presenting those from my area." Dutch is concerned about: 1 . Spending Tax Money Wise- y. "We need to make sure we're getting a labor return for dollars we are spending, and not being 'spend-happy'. We need to utilize uti-lize dollars as well as we can. For example, we shouldn't . spend money now fixing roads permanently if we have to dig them up in a few months to put in a new sewer." 2. Preventing Costly Problems Pro-blems Before They Occur. "We have had a costly 'just get by' attitude in the county. We need to fix roads, etc. and keep them in repair rather than let them run down and pay a huge price to fix them. For example, Weber Canyon road will cost a tremendous amount to repair because the commission commis-sion has let it go too long." |
