Park City's Roxanne Toly enjoyed a day in her honor Saturday at the Resort, appropriately termed 4 Roxanne Roxan-ne Toly Day, " . . which was organized for the purpose of defraying Roxanne's training and traveling expenses during her quest to represent, the United States in the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid as a member of the U.S. Ski Team. Although Roxanne was not selected as one of the three women downhillers on the U.S. Team, she left the Resort Saturday at 1:30pm to catch a flight to Lake Placid where she will serve as a forerunner in the downhill event. The 17 year old Park City skier left carrying a dozen ; long-stem roses given to her prior to her departure to the Olympics. In the event that one of the U.S. Downhill skiers (Cindy Nelson, Nel-son, Heidi Preuss, Holly Flanders) cannot compete, Roxanne could still be selected. select-ed. ;.;,v; Saturday's fundraiser for Roxanne was termed a success by Park City Ski Team Coaches Bob Marsh and Patti Formichelli who were, both, members of the organizing committee. The amount of hioney raised had not been determined by the time we went to press, according to Patti, but the figure is expected to be released for next week's issue. Roxanne, along with Bob and Pattie, gave racing clinics Saturday which included free skiing on the mountain. At 1 :00pm, a plaque was given to Nick Badami, Chairman of the Board of Alpine Meadows, parent company of Park City Resort, in appreciaton for his support. The Resort has pledged to match the amount of money raised during Roxanne Toly Day .Roxanne was then given a bouquet of roses and she left for Lake Placid.-::'';-' About 30 racers competed on a dual course set up on Clementine. In women's competition com-petition winners were Kathy Popis, Jan Sylvester, and Julie . Lawson. Jim Gaddis, Ray Marchetta and Craig Naylor won the men's division.
