Show Seniors Join Forces, Get Together and Get Things Done If you are 58 or older, and aren't a member of the Senior Citizens Group, you might consider consi-der joining. Presently, the group has 58 members. Annual dues are $2.00. Members meet twice a month, alternating between the Marsac school and the Memorial Building. Build-ing. The group hopes to have its own activity center ready for use sometime next year. The old Keetley depot, purchased with the aid of state and federal funds, has been moved to a site here donated by the City. The Seniors have been busy trying to finish the outside work before the first snow. Members include carpenters and electricians electri-cians who will tear down partitions to make two large meeting rooms, lounge, and install restrooms and kitchen. The women have actively participated in the renovation. One of their early projects was to salvage and clean old bricks to be used for a fireplace at the center. The new center will provide activities for both men and women. A game room and card tables may be of particular interest for the men, while the women are looking forward to quilting projects. Most important the center will provide a permanent place for meetings, dinners and other group activities. activi-ties. Anyone interested in becoming a member or making a contribution contribu-tion to the center may contact the club's president, Violet Terry, 649-9265. |
