Gold, who has served since the beginning of Mayor Uriarte's term in January 1976, told the Record Tuesday he submitted his resignation as a "courtesy" to Mayor-elect Green, who is required to submit his recommendations recom-mendations for appointed positions pos-itions in city hall to the council when he takes office in January. He said he "hasn't considered" consider-ed" staying on as judge if the Mayor-elect indicates he wants him to continue, but that he would consider the possibility if he is asked. Green said Tuesday he is planning to accept the resignation, resigna-tion, since he understood Gold want to devote more time to private practice. He said he is considering several candidates to recommend to the council as Gold's replacement, replace-ment, but that he does not plan to announce his choice until the council's January 5 meeting, after he is sworn in as Mayor. Green said he is also considering consider-ing candidates for pending appointments to the planning commission to replace councilman-elect Bob Wells, and the council, which will have an open seat after Green takes the Mayor's gavel. |
