Show r - in having won several $1,000 pots, two in the past three weeks. We were not lucky that night at all. We went out to their new home which is very nice and quite aways out. They really enjoy being there. I also had a nice chat with Jay and Claudette Naglich. She works at the test site and Jay for the power company. It seemed each one I talked to told me of some one else in the area. Ray an dEdna Shwimin live in Boulder City. Wasn't able to contact Louie and Sylvia Jarmillo and a few others but it was nice talking and being with those that I did. The days were quite warm but not as hot as I expected some days were about like a typical summer day in Park City. I stayed for ten days and when I arrived home it was so cold, I wished I had stayed longer. Hopefully I will be able to go back soon and see some of the museums and historical places, there. I learned a lot about the history while there-' Las Vegas" means The Meadows in Spanish, hard to think of a meadow in the desert but to the early settlers that is what it was to them after the desert.N Hospital patients this past week Beverly Florence and Rex Pederson. the gal at Travel House said I got you the fastest flight I could you will leave Salt Lake City at 5:20 pm and arrive at 5:25 pm (time change) we were in the air one hour and five minutes the pilot said the temperature is 103 low 68, humidity 76 we are flying at a speed of 520 miles per hour, felt like we weren't even moving the ride was so smooth. Christine had a little boy at 1 pm and Wayne and Callah were at the airport to meet me, it was hot. . We went directly to the . hospital and I had my first glimpse of a grandson. The first boy since 1972, and hea was a fine healthy boy the 23rd grandchild for Ken and I. Knowing their were many former parkites and friends there I decided to call and talk to those I could find in the phone book that is if I could remember some of their new names. First off I called Ted Mann resident, in hopes of talking to Wanda Gordon Mann, she had left on Tuesday for South Africa to visit with her youngest daughter Connie for two months and on her way back plans to spend some time in Maryland with another daughter. Ted said a Park City girl was working at the Desert Inn where he was but couldn't remember her name so he took my phone number and said he would have her call me the next day. Her mother Eva Naglich Cohn called as the girl was Eva Murray and we really had a nice chaf. Didn't get to see Eva as they were leaving the next morning for Utah and Eva Murray was coming up for the Alumni doings, but it was really nice to visit with her. I had a visitor on Thursday a niece Marjean Carter Harvey who lives about a mile or so from Chris. It had been quite some time since I had seen her and so we had a nice visit and she has three children. I then called Wilma Gordon Reno a sister of Wanda (both are sisters of Deil Gordon) it was real nice talking to her she has such a pleasant voice and hearty laugh. Wilma and I planned to meet on Saturday for lunch, she came by and picked me up and we went to the Showboat where we enjoyed a nice buffet luncheon lunch-eon and lots of catching up and sightseeing. One of the things that most amazed me was the bowling lanes at the showboat I have never seen such a large place. Later on we were met by Robert (Kize) Thompson and his wife. Kize is a stepbrother to Ken and have been in Las Vegas about ten years now. Wilma and her daughter-in-law went on home and I went on with them for another look at the night life. We played Bingo at the Showboat then on to the Bingo Palace for more. Kize and Hetta says this is their Saturday night out each week and sometimes some-times have been quite lucky Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth N. Durrant Jr. are delighted to announce that their daughter Lynda Sue and Bruce Alan Newbold son of Mr. and Mrs. Noal C. Newbold shall be sealed in marriage for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday, the eighth of June nineteen hundred and seventy-nine. A reception will be held in their honor Friday June 8 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. at the Crescent Stake Center 10980 South 1700 East Sandy, Utah. I received a nice letter from Rachel Ann Mayne a Park City Miners daughter, she was born here February 11, 1914. She says she is the only one left of a family of two sisters and two brothers. She now lives in Copperton, Bingham Canyon and says she has a nice "home there but sure wishes she could be back here in Park City. Her father was Owen M. Brim-hall. Brim-hall. She says she loves old photos and clippings and collects many of these. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Tharp are the proud parents of an 8 lbs 7 oz boy born May 21, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Clint Wayne was welcomed home by a sister Callah Christine. Proud grandparents grandpar-ents are Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth Kummer, Park 1 City, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Tharp, Phoenix, Arizona, also great grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Martin H. Knut-sen, Knut-sen, Centerville, Utah. Wednesday about noon Ken Kummer Jr. and Leon Crandall Jr. were hit broadside broad-side in-Emery County totaling total-ing Leons pickup. Leon had quite a number of bruises but Ken was hospitalized until Saturday as it was though he had some broken ribs and probable lung puncture, it was more bruises than anything plus a broken tooth. The boys are very lucky it was not worse and we are all thankful it was not. Early Monday morning May 21, the phone rang and - daughter Christine said the new grandchild was on the way, having made my plane reservations for the 25, 1 had to do some fast changing so I could get to Las Vegas and help with Callah her daughter daugh-ter while she was in the hospital. It was quite a trip |
