Show LETTERS Preserve Main Street Buildings to save the remaining buildings build-ings on Main Street. The lending institutions need a push, the procedures for building permits need a good revision. The fees paid to the city (that is water and license fees) could be used. Co-op Ad proposals for restored new business might be adopted, and probably most important, just general cooperation and help by city officials and employees. Some of these incentives could also be used for finished new Main Street buildings, that not only had a good presentation and rendering, ren-dering, but in fact had a good final product like the new leather works building and hopefully the new Cozy. Dale Nelson Dear Editor: Last week's Park Record showed much interest in the tearing down of The Cozy. I agree it had lots of history and much happened in the building, but to save it would have cost a lot of money, and unless a person is wealthy, there is no way of getting it through normal lending procedures pro-cedures at the present time. Anyone who has or is remodeling on Main Street knows that to do so is a big hassle; there are no incentives incen-tives to help, in fact, the reverse is true. It seems the people would like the history saved; and I know the developers of new town do. Now with all this interest, our counsel form of government govern-ment should see this and use their powers and influence to help set up some programs |
