Show ;i - - - .....J v'-'.v;: Graduation Requirements Discussed Tuesday, September 30, will be a minimum day for students of Park City High School, so that parents and school counselors can meet with the students to form individualized educational programs. The public health nurse will also be available that day to offer free immunizations to any student not yet up to date on the required immunizations. The individualized educational plan is for all students grades nine through twelve. Board policy requires 24 units of successfully completed high school credit in order to be awarded a diploma in the Park City School District. The students may take Wi units of elective courses of their choice but they are required to take the following units for graduation; 4 units Language Arts; 3 units Social Studies; 2 units Mathematics; 3 units Science; 2Vi units Physical Education; Vi unit Health; Vi unit School or Community Service.- , According to Kent Lawson, counselor at Park City High, the school is also concerned with working out any special individual needs a student may have. "If there is a unique learning experience that a, student may have an outside opportunity to pursue, we try and accommodate their schedules for that." Students are also asked for their plans after graduation, whether they plan to attend a university, Jr. College or vacational college, seek an apprenticeship or work. Discussions take place on what long term career goals a student may have. Once the individualized plan is set it can only be changed by agreement between the pUent, student and counselor at another meeting. |
