Show Interline Week to Begin Sunday The weeks immediately following follow-ing the Christmas-New Years holidays have traditionally been slow ones for local resorts and businesses. But not this year. Starting Sunday, an estimated 500-700 airline employees from 18 airlines will descend on Park City for Interline Ski Week, January 8-13. According to Laura Thomas, Assistant Marketing Director at the Resort, the Park City Interline Week is the first of four airline ski weeks sponsored by NAASF, North American Airlines Ski Federation. Other events this year will be held at Copper Mountain (Feb. 5-10) Waterville Valley (Mar 5-10) and Lake Tahoe (April 2-7). Next year's schedule calls for races at Sun Valley, Crested Butte, Steamboat Springs and Lake Tahoe. "We work closely with the airlines bringing in skiers, so we'd like to provide the employees employ-ees with a week of good skiing and fun activities," commented Thomas about the six days of ski races and parties. She noted that local businesses had gone all out to welcome the interliners, providing numerous discounts: "The airline people are in a constant contact with the traveling public and if they've been to Park City and had a great time it will be good P.R." On the slopes, the Interliners will compete Wednesday and Thursday in A and B classification, classifica-tion, dual and individual slalom races, with trophies being awarded award-ed to individuals and teams at a Thursday night banquet at the C'est Bon. "A" Teams will be competing for the "American Airlines Hindrum Cup" an award honoring honor-ing the late Capt. John Hindrum, founder of the American Airlines Ski Team. Off the slopes, organizers have scheduled three evening parties at the Silver King Club, Cest Bon and the Resort Center. In addition, there will be a raffle Wednesday night with local ski shops donating prizes. |
