The NASTAR program enables all levels of skiers to participate in weekly giant slalo; . races for medals and general racingsatisfaction. Scores are set against a qualified and proficient, skier who serves as pacesetter for each race. Participants race and are scored under a handicap handi-cap system similar to those in other sports like golf. Park City Resort has been named one of six top NASTAR (National Standard Race) locations in the nation in terms of racer participation during the 1972-73 season. In all, 81 of the areas participatingin the program pro-gram had been assigned to one of six groups which matched the areas in terms of size and overall NASTAR skier draw during the course of last season. Park City Resort headed the group A listings list-ings with a total number of 843 skiers having run the NASTAR gates during the season. Capturing second place was the Tyrol ski area with 622 skiers. Others further back in the same category included Heavenly Valley which came in at fourth and Brighton which finished at eighth. Aspen Highlands copped highest overall honors by hosting close to 3,000 NASTAR skiers this year and last. Other group winners included Purgatory, Sugarloaf, Mt. Telmark, and Keystone. Key-stone. As a result of winning the group championship, champion-ship, two Resort NASTAR personnel have been awarded all-expense-paid trips to the NASTAR finals sponsored by Schlitz at Alpine Meadows, Calif., April 13-15. Representing the Resort will be Adolph Imboden, who served as pacesetter for the event throughout the season, and Ken Mont-pelier, Mont-pelier, Resort coordinator of the program. Also winning all expense-paid trips to the finals will be 60 men and women from throughout through-out the nation who have managed the highest and most consistent scores during the season among |
