Show Roxanne 'The Rocket' Streaks To Victory Roxanne Toly and Doni Waldmanpf the Park City Ski & Sports Club dominated the Intermediate Girls class in the Giant Slalom this weekend, week-end, finishing first and second. sec-ond. Both Roxanne and Doni were several seconds ahead of the rest of the field on this relatively short, 4G second course. "This GJS. was more like a sprint or a dash" said Coach Bruce Morse, "The girls had to really blast it all the way, and they obviously ob-viously did judging by the margin they were ahead of the rest of the field. Wax may also have been a factor. Buddy Waldman and I tried five different combinations of wax before finding what we felt was the optimam. "There was new snow, and the temperature was cool in the morning, but the snow was saturated with water and the temperature began climbing fast. By race time the course was very wet powder, so we made yet another wax correction wtiich seems to have paid off." Although Doni and Roxanne have both won races this season, this was the first time they skied to a one, two punch. The PCS&SC is very proud of them. In the PeeWee Girls class Leilani Soares again led the Park City Ski & Sports Club finishers, placing second behind be-hind her good friend from U.RJ5., Joan DeSilva. Laurie Hann, who is always al-ways close placed fourth while Alona Soares skied to fifth place. Cheryl Dun- among them, although Scott and Tom Rogers, Louis Leatham, Kris Elwell, Brandon Bran-don Beiiognole and Marko Alverei' all skiied well. The next race for the Park City Ski & Sports Club team is the Tribune Classic which will be held at Park City March 23. This will be the last opportunity this season to watch the team compete at Park City. Eric Hays was in a three-way three-way tie for first place in the PeeWee boys class, but be-cause be-cause of a questionable "start correction" hadto settle for second place. Matias Alveretwas really "going for it" and finished fourth, while Glen Rogers and Steve Toly rounded out the top 10 placing sixth and seventh. Karrie Hays kept the PC S&SC in the top ten in the Novice Girls Class placing. As of this writing only the first 10 places in each class have been calculated and unfortunately none of the PCS&SC Novice Boys were |
