Show PCHS Homecoming Is this Friday with North Summit Football Foe to spend the rest of the night. The girls initiated were: Brenda MacNaughtan, Sharon Hamilton, Karen Cochran, Lori Lee Nelson, Frieda Putman, . Dori Pratt, Jay ne Farley, Kathy Lambert, Susan Marcellin, Lori R. Nelson, Paula Roach, Jana Rae Martinez, and Susan Session. Ses-sion. It was two days of fun and excitement. ReNae Street. -PCHS- The Juniors have ordered their class rings. The style chosen for this year will be an oval red stone placed on a square gold frame. The price will be about $25 depending on , size. The sizes are king size, special boys, girls, and miniature. The rings were ordered two weeks ago and will arrive in about eight weeks after the deposit. de-posit. Reporter, Brenda Mac -PCHS-'What's that smell?' "I don't know but I think it's the Home Ec room." "No! It's the lab." Such phrases were heard around the school last week while workmen work-men were installingnewcarpet-ing. installingnewcarpet-ing. An experiment is being conducted con-ducted to see which type of carpet car-pet will last the longest. The carpet on the northeast side of the building is thinner than the carpet in Mr.Carlson'sScience room. Dr. Simmons said, "The next room to be carpeted is Mrs. Bartschi's off ice.-Reporter, Mike McDonald. -PCHS- The PCHS Junior Varsity won their first game by beating Wasatch eight to six last Thursday. Thurs-day. The J. V. team consists of ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders. Gib Martinez ran for Park's only touchdown. The PAT try failed. Wasatch came back quickly : The annual PCHS Homecom- ing will be held October 1, 1971. The day's activities will begin with a pep assembly at 10:45,. Then the students will stroll up to the top of town and join townspeople in order to watch the Homecomingparade at 11:30. After this spectacular event, the students will rush back to school to find out which class had prize-winning floats in the parade. This announcement-assembly announcement-assembly will be at 12:00 after which the students will be excused for lunch. Then the highlight of Home-. Home-. - coming will be the football game which will be at 1:30 at the new football field. The townspeople are urged to come out and enjoy all of the Homecoming activities. Reporter, Re-porter, Robin Johnson. -PCHS- What are you going to be doing do-ing Thursday, September 30 at 7:30? Why don't you come to the PCHS dummy burn at the Ball Park? The dummy burn is a pep rally to enhance the spirit of the football team and supporters. The lettermen burn an effigy of the opposition's mascot which this year will be a likeness like-ness of an Indian Brave since the opposition is the Braves of North Summit. Another attraction of the dummy burn is the annual crowning of the PCHS Homecoming Home-coming Queen. After these activities the cheerleaders will lead a snake dance up to the Wooden Nickel. All are encouraged to come and - join in on the nights adventurous . activities. Reporte r, Robin Johnson. -PCHS-" Bunny Rabbits, Hop!" New members of the Park High Drill Team were initiated Sept. 23 and 25. On the 23rd the girls got dressed up as bunny rabbits and paraded around the school singing "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" while eatingcarrots and onions. On the 25th, they were aroused arous-ed at 2:30 a.m. by the older members and taken to the school to score a touchdown but their try for the extra point also failed. Park's extra two points came on a safety which concluded the scoring. The final score again: Park 8, Wasatch 6.-Reporter, Carey Dorka. -PCHS- Mr. Rasband, Park High's Social Science teacher, has several newteachingtechniques Among them are various kinds of visual aids for individualization individualiza-tion of instruction. Mr. Rasband is also using paperbacks in an attempt to obtain ob-tain a greater variety of materials mater-ials and to give students a wider base for study. Each unit is organized with a minimum requirement for every student. This constitutes . "C" work. Minimum work, along with film strips, charts, articles, ar-ticles, work sheets, etc., constitutes con-stitutes "B" work. Any effort beyond this is "A" work.. It is hoped that the students will be motivated to investigate and think for themselves; to dis- cover important patterns in human behavior and in social institutions.
