Show PTfl Sponsors Amblyopia Clinic Sept. 30 Thursday, September 30, has been set for the annual PTA-sponsored PTA-sponsored Amblyopia Clinic. Amblyopia, which is commonly com-monly referred to as 'lazy-eye", 'lazy-eye", is the loss of all useful central vision in one eye. Central vision develops slowly slow-ly and gradually throughout the first six years of life. Young eyes develop by doing, and only by constant repetition of observing, ob-serving, studying, and concentrating concen-trating on small objects, shapes and outlines does central vision develop in the eyes. Amblyopia is gradual in onset, on-set, and may be easily corrected correct-ed if discovered early. Once a child has reached the age of 7 or 8 years, it is seldom possible to restore the lost central vision. For this reason, the PTA in cooperation with the public Health Service is again sponsoring spon-soring a clinic for children three, four and five years of ag"e. We feel that this clinic provides pro-vides a very worthwhile protection protec-tion for your children and we urge you to bring them to the Memorial Building at 9:00a.m. on Thursday, September 30. We ask that those parents with children chil-dren in Kindergarten plan to be there as the Kindergarten children chil-dren will also be screened at this time. |
