Show High School Band Opens Drive To Raise Funds for Equipment The Park City High School band is currently involved in a fund-raising drive, the proceeds pro-ceeds of which will enable them to obtain badly needed band equipment. The school board has allocated al-located $200.00 with which to operate the band during the current year. Several instruments instru-ments need repair and it is planned to purchase a new, smaller base drum that can be more easily transported to games. The drum alone will consume most of the budgeted money. Then there is the big item of music. To obtain one number with sufficient copies for each instrument, the cost runs about $10.00. Hal Smith, president of the band stated that the band students stu-dents are seeking to raise the needed, money by selling Community Com-munity Calendars, and will be canvassing the area seeking support. Ads will be available for business establishments, clubs can have meeting dates displayed and individuals may contribute to this project by having birthdates, anniversaries, anniver-saries, etc. noted on the appropriate ap-propriate date. The High School Band, in a way, represents YOU, the people of Park City. It participates partic-ipates in parades, festivals, concerts, and many other public events, as well as supporting school functions. The band members with Hal Smith as president; LindaMar-tinez, LindaMar-tinez, vice-president; Valerie Kummer, secretary; and De-lores De-lores Martinez, librarian, are organizing the campaign and are hopeful of achieving their goal. Help the band be a good ambassador ambas-sador in representing you. Please support them with your contributions! |
