Show Snow Depths Are Recorded Snow depths and water content on the snow courses in Summit County continue above average for the winter. However a dry February has lowered the average aver-age from previous months. Following is a listing of the courses with the snow depth and percent of average. Chalk Creek 1 64 inches of snow, with 22.2 inches of water. This is 125 of the 15 year average. aver-age. Chalk Creek 2, 48 inches of snow, with 15.2 inches of water. This is 137 of average. Chalk Creek 3, 30 inches of snow with 9.0 inches of water for 148 of average. Smith-Morehouse, 46 inches of snow with 14.3 inches of water. This is 142 of average. aver-age. Trial Lake 84 inches of snow, with 27.9 inches of water. For 135 of average. Soapstone 46 inches of snow with 13.9 inches of water. This is 132 of average. Beaver Creek 28 inches of snow, with 8.4 inches of snow, for 115 of average. Upper Reddon Mine 57 inches of snow with 20.3 inches of water. This is 131 of average. . Lower Reddon Mine 52 inches of snow with 17.8 inches of water, for 128 of average. Averages for February first ranged from 145 to 178 of-normal. of-normal. So it can be seen that February was a very dry month. Most courses received only about 50 of their usual pre--cipation for February. For instance in-stance Chalk 3 received only 0.8 of an inch of precipitation for the entire month. |
