Those who previously were found not eligible for SSI payments because they had more than one acre of land may wish to recontact the Social Security office if they feel they might now qualify under the new rule. New Policy Change Beneficial A recent policy change regarding re-garding home ownership and adjoining land could make additional people eligible for Supplemental Security Income, In-come, according to Grant S. Williams, Manager of Social Security for Northern Utah. The previous policy allowed allow-ed no more than one acre of land to be counted with a home, the value of which is excluded from countable resources re-sources in determining eligibility el-igibility for "SSI". (SSI is a Federal program of money supplement for those over age 65, or blind, or disabled dis-abled who have little income and resources).
