All three local sport shops now offer a fairly wide variety of equipment and rental gear. Formal ski touring lessons are available directly through one shop and also are available at the Resort. Here's a basic (but not complete) rundown on what's available, where and for how much. Miner's Find Currently, Gene Zenger is specializing spec-ializing in the Finnish Karhu line of wood, light touring skis and poles. He also features both Karhu and Villom toe plates and a Norwegian Suveren light touring boot. These and other accessories are priced as follows: Skis: Karhu wood li gilt touring $27.50. Poles: Karhu-bamboo-$8.50 Boots: Suveren light touring $31.00. Bindings: Karhu Suksiside universal adjustable, adjust-able, with toe iron $5.00. . Villom varying sized $7.50. Accessories: (The Miner's Find features the complete Rex wax line). Rex Waxing Kit: 2 t pes of klisters, 5 hard wax cannisters, 1 universal wax, scraper, removal solvent, smoothing block $6.00. The Miner's Find will soon offer a complete line of rental touring equipment featuring Karhu skis and poles and Suveren boots. Timberhaus Matt Alvarez is primarily stocking stock-ing the Norwegian Splitkein Bass Line of touring equipment in skis, boots and poles. Local touring guru Jim Patterson handles the Timberhaus cross country clinic four days a week with arrangements possible for other days. Individuals and groups. Lesson prices: $6 morning, $6 afternoon or $11 all day. Wolfe's Jan Peterson is stocking both Fischer fiberglass and Splitkein Bass woodlight touring skis along with two lines of toots and poles and the Rottefella touring binding. Also, full day combination lessons and guided tours are arrangeable for 5-10 person groups with lunch for $15 each. Private lessons and tours are also available. " |
