Show Everyone lay IqIiq Part If you've got some free time and the willingness to help others, contact Vicki Frost and Taylor Hartman at the Memorial Building. They need volunteers to help with their rehabilitation-preven-tion-counselling program. Taylor, who has a doctorate doctor-ate in rehabilitation and counselling, and Vicki, who has a BS in community health science from the University of Utah, are conducting an initial month long training session throughout October. Volunteers will learn how to communicate and listento those with emotional, behavioral, be-havioral, family and drug problems, and be able to help them. Techniques to be utilized include role-playing, mood stimulation, discussion groups, and field service. Those who have already had training can begin work with individuals after the first week. There will be different dif-ferent volunteer levels depending de-pending on background. Possible Pos-sible positions include secretarial sec-retarial jobs, doing publicity, pub-licity, and participating in rap sessions. Taylor and Vicki are very excited about the program. "For the volunteer," said Taylor, "we'll be providing an opportunity to reach people who need help. Volunteers will have the chance to learn and grow themselves. They'll be trained by people who have worked in the field and have extensive experience." Vicki added that anyone can voluntee r business people, housewives, students. stu-dents. "Volunteers can work as many or as few hours a they desire," said Vicki. "They can work whenever it's convenient for them." The October schedule is as follows: Oct. 8, Get-acquainted origination confidentiality role description. Oct. 10 Relationship and trust. Oct. 15 Listening Oct. 17 Communication-verbal Communication-verbal and nonverbal. Oct. 22 Alcohol and drug abuse. Oct. 24- Values identification. ident-ification. Oct. 29 - Family and teacher counselling. Oct. 31 Referral process and confrontation.
