from St. St Joe The Junior Varsity tallied up 48 points to St. St Joes Joe's 39 Bill Mawhinney was top point man with 18 points The Varsity score was 47 43 for Park City Gordon Boyle recovering from a sprained ankle and Terry Andrus both scored 13 points to lead the Miners Miners Jim Terry Andrus and Terry Johnson Johnson Johnson John John- son controlled the boards the entire night It was a close game all the way with the Miners leading most of the time St. St Joe tied the score once and went ahead by three points at one time but the Miners were able to stay out in front to win by four points Friday the Miners will host South Rich In the first meeting with South Rich the Miners were defeated 48 44 Reporter Terry Johnson Spectators of all ages are causing a problem at P basketball games by running around while the varsity game is in progress A partial count by a faculty member revealed that at least 65 individuals including high school Junior high and elementary elementary elementary elemen elemen- tary students as well as preschoolers preschoolers preschoolers pre pre- and adults walked onto or crossed the basketball basketball basketball basket basket- ball court during the varsity game Several times the players barely missed trampling these people as they walked leisurely from seats to door or door to seats So many people are running through the halls and up and down stairs during a game that thata a casual observer coming into the b building u i 1 d i n g would think the game was over or had not started or there was no activity at all in the gymnasium If nothing else can be said about basketball this this' year it can be said that it is exciting because there has been hardly a game played that the score has not been close the entire game with one ope or two points separating the teams In many games the score has been tied more often than not So why the lack of interest in the games The student council council coun coun- cil and faculty have pondered the topics of films shown to the public at Park City High School on Friday evening January 30 These three films presented a picture of the drug problem in the United States and parts of Europe Flower of Darkness Darkness- was about the Oriented poppy from which 0 opium pi u m is processed Heroin was stressed as one of the drugs used more frequently by drug users It has been estimated that worth of heroin is brought into Salt Lake City in one day This heroin is used illegally by drug pushers distributors and users The Bridge From No Place Place- was also more or less about heroin People on drugs use heroin because it kills all pain and anxiety Drug users not only come f from the Junior High School a and older people but 10 of sixth g graders in s schools c h o o 1 s of the v Western Coast have tampered v wi with h drugs of some kind Patients being cured of d drugs are volunteering for t tha 4 testing of various drugs the e effects they have on a person j Two main approaches for the c problem Institutions have i been organized to help these j people One such place in Utah where they can go for help is the Crisis Center The main problem we face t today is how to bring people on c her teaching duties She teaches Home Economics Girls' Girls PE and is Pep Club advisor Reporter Lloyd Evans The Seventh and Eighth grade girls are learning to use a trampoline During the last two weeks 20 girls have received instruction on how to perform simple t tricks r i c k s on the large springing platform Coach Ed Severance remarks The girls are doing a very fine job There are a few girls that are quite good such as Paula Kay R Roach 0 a c h Laurie Murphy Becky Barth Earth and Sheron Put- Put man It has been necessary to schedule schedule schedule dule educational co-educational P PE E classes classes classes clas clas- ses consisting of Seventh and Eighth grade boys and girls But the gym has proven to be too small to handle 50 students effectively at one time while they are the basic skills to the students because the instructors instructors in instructors in- in cannot spend enough tim time with the individual This is the first time in Park High history there has been a trampoline or educational co-educational PE classes Reporter Lloyd Evans Park City High School has purchased a large moving picture picture pic plc- ture screen The screen measures 18 feet by 18 feet or square feet and is large enough to project three 16 moving pictures pictures pic plc- tures at the same time The screen will be suspended from the ceiling in front of the stage in the tha
