| Show Many Utah Homes Give Protection The first analysis of the dwelling units surveyed during the Utah Home Protection Survey Survey Survey Sur Sur- vey as of Jan 7 show that 1162 units housing persons have havea a protection factor of or 40 or bet bet- ter THERE ARE dwelling units housing persons with a protection factor of 20 to 39 There are units I housing persons wi with th a protection factor of 10 to 20 and only units housing 1276 persons persons persons per per- sons with a protection factor of less than 10 These figures are based on questionnaires The term Protection Fac Fac- tor or cor is the fhe relation between the amount of fallout r radiation a d i a t ion which would be received by a completely unprotected person compared to the amount which would be received by a person in a fallout shelter FOR EXAMPLE In a fallout shelter with a PF of 40 would receive about one forti eth or 2 2 1 per cent of or the radiation he would be exposed to if he were completely The higher the PF for your home the more protection It affords against radiation If the improvements are made I as suggested in the booklet at attached attached attached at- at to the evaluation report which is sent to each dwelling unit the analysis of the survey would change so that units housing persons would have a protection factor of at least 40 which is the minimum minimum minimum min min- acceptable PF for a public fallout shelter The balance of the units surveyed would be greatly improved also with few exceptions BRIG GEN C C.
