I r J k- k i. i 1 WIND RAIN DROWN OLD GLORY i The Bountiful American Legion did its part Members were out early Monday morning putting up flags since President Johnson had asked that the they fly all week But the chronic rain storms wouldn't leave lea Old Glory alone Yes the wind made them stretch out in full color waving the starts and stripes along Main Street But when full flury broke out just after 5 pm p.m. Monday the flags couldn't take it When rain soaked winds grabbed the flags bending them till metal staffs dropped them into roaring roaring gutters Many were in the gutters like this one in minutes Waves of water poured over them as torrents of rain pelted the area in cloudburst cloud proportions As soon as it was possible to get out Legion members plucked clucked the flogs flags 8 up |
