miners a grand send off on their trip to price to play the carbon county high miners winners of division five there were a few stops along the road mad and the one that the boys remember most wes was the one just outside of cl heber coach bailey was given the blame for the stop because the boys said that he caused the flat tire under the seat he be was sitting in prom then on the luck was better the team arrived in price at 5 alter after the boys had washed up and powdered their noses at the savoy hotel they rushed to the grill cate cafe for the long awaited meal the boys were well fed at all times the boys went for a short walk and entered the star theatre 91 strong the f fane ft vire ne was the gold diggers of 1933 this picture would give any young man who had football on his mind something else to think about at the boys reported to coach balleys baileys room and at 1030 all lights wore were out and the boys were dead to the world of course strange beds and new laid partners made a restless night tor for some captain nick despain said that russell jordan must be an octopus because two legs kick a person so often in one night some of the boys close to Wort leys room complained about the train whistle tooting all night but baldy johns roommate told the boys in the morning that it was johns snoring after jack was ready for bed the boys decided to lock him out of the rooms so BO jack put on a pajama parade up and down the hall ball in front of locked doors begging someone to let him in despite the fun the manager of the hotel complimented aloft th coach on the good behavior of the boys the morning of the next day was spent in sightseeing sight eight seeing after a light lunch the boys were required to rest tor for an hour b batore fore they were ready to start action it was very cold on the field and most of the spectators stayed in their cars A few small bonfires were built on the sidelines to keep the people warm it it was as bad as 3 that for the spectators it certainly was nta a picnic tor for the players in tact fact there was everything but snow even though our boys lost by a score of 18 0 they deserve credit for the fight they put up against a team so much larger than they are snowball jolley said bald after the game that he was glad there were no mud holes in the field because it if he had stepped in a mud hold bolei the big black wolves would have broken his legs off barney mcgarry and gib dabas pounds were pushed about as IT if they were puppets so we shall let you imagine how they handled cam bemons pounds john wortley and jack mckissick after playing a bang up game the first half were forced to leave the game in the third quarter with injuries this removed some ot of the teams weight because jim nichols Nl chols pounds and jackle williams pounds were the boys who were sent into the game but these fellows did their work well when tho the game finished park high was without the services vices of five regulars in tact mo olsen a substitute center was playing in the backfield back field quite an experience peri ence for mo the park boys played a good clean game and showed good sportsmanship all the way through they were only penalized twice tor for off side a penalty ol of 5 6 yards baldy allibone made ande n the feature run or of the day of 35 yards from rom a take punt formation but baldy tast fast enough to outrun out run the carbon boys after the game the boys sat bat down to a turkey dinner and a little later they left for home all of 0 the boys were in good humor and were pleased with
