direction to and out it the food Is 13 as good as it smells the american history students are arc taking a special interest in the first president ol of the united states this year because of the fact that 1932 marks his centennial MAWHINNEY 32 aw aw tests letts determine progress of 0 bookkeeping students tho the bookkeeping students have con eluded the world would tie be much it if mr olsen pass out those yellow sheets ol of paper which have such a depressing influence on their mental attitude although the tests are bo be disagreeable each student hopes as he sighing passes his paper forward that he be will receive a creditable grade or even one in the these tests are compiled by an expert a and nd sent out by the publishers of the twentieth century bookkeeping test the subject matter of the tests concerns journalizing posting trial balance and the effect of recording transactions on proprietorship the material Is practical serviceable it Is used in ninety per cent ot of the leading high schools of the united states the papers are scored car d by mr olsen and a record Is kept with a view to giving personal help to individual students as well as remedial measures to be used in teaching the first year typing students are having difficulty in conquering the rebellious little finger the students complain that lust just as one finger gets into working order the same grind must be gone thru to obtain the same results with the one next to it in general however all ot of the 6 students are progressing very well mcknight 32 science classes prove exciting firel fire I 1 fire I 1 oh what can we do where Is some water excitement reigned when these cries were ere heard coming irom from lour four or five girls in the chemistry class thursday how to get water was an important question when ellen mawhinney set her waste jar on fire anre ellen was indeed surprised when mr smith calmly put the lid ild on the jar and told them to let it hunt bum out now the laboratory class is well on its way and we are willing to confess that chemistry Is about the most interest lre fra subject taught in park city high school during the last week the physics students have been studying the laws ot of pascal and archimedes they have reviewed the biographies ot of these men and find it very interesting work to look up accounts and chief events in the lives of these great men who contributed so much to science and mathematics the biology class has been studying frogs reptiles crawfish and many other interesting creatures they find it very interesting but at the same time very difficult because mr dykeman has a habit babit ot of giving them at least two tests a week these tests are far from simple even for the upperclassmen in the class mr dykeman seems to enjoy telling these seniors that they should be ashamed of themselves when they receive lower lomei r grades than the freshmen they seem not to be ashamed however for they cannot lm prove enough to make the improvements noticeable HARAM BARAN 32 04 0 notes front from english class 1 the seniors are studying the merchant ot of venice and many of the girls wish they were as beautiful and witty as portia so they too might attract suitors from the tour four corners of 0 the earth the juniors have devised a record on which they put each persons name with his violations in english As this Is educational week they have prepared talks on now how schools create a taste tor for good literature and why schools benefit ehfe health of children tills this la is to make the students appreciate the value that they are receiving from a good education ff the sophomores have been studying short hort stories and writing situations for stories some ot of the students hope to develop these situations into complete stories in one of the sophomore english classes there are fourteen boys and one girl this girl teems deenis to have been an inspiration to the boys as they wrote stories concerning a beautiful heroine is the freshmen have found it quite difficult to prepare their first short talks but in fit spite of this tact fact some very interesting te talks were given I 1 j some splendid posters were made on the ten laws of an american citizen these posters are to be saved for exhibit in the spring I 1 MATHESON 33 a 4 0 1 so social atal science ways of acquiring wealth seems to be a very fitting subject for the young students of economics to be studying at this time everyone should know which are the best ways to acquire wealth in order that lie he may gain prosperity tor for his bation as well as himself the freshmen n boys are diligently working on booklets they intend to make abbit four this year such subjects as A model home A model citizen arid and model sports have been chosen for the bon artt the boys should make much better citizens after they finish their books the persian and peloponnesian wars in greece are arc being studied in world history the greeks the students find and had a great deal of influence on the civilization of the world not only did the greeks leave us much that Is fr original but they took old ideas and improved and cultivated them to hand down to following generations tl tre tle e american history students are studying of the struggles their ancestors had in securing their freedom and in laying the foundation for this great nation the american revolution which before seemed a trivial matter Is beginning to have a new importance to the students 32 senior orators the creative creati ve dramatics Is the talk of via fie senior class at the present time many ideas have come from the brilliant winds minds of ct the seniors and more ideas ate aie still coming orators old maids small children newlyweds lovers and salesmen are listen to thorn them when these listeners tall fail out the senior orators find other listeners these orations will soon be given and the other classes will not have to play listeners to the senior demosthenes COSSEY COSSET 32 W aw ap feud fend develops in postgraduate post graduate class one postgraduate post graduate student was so interested te in a class last week that site she became absentminded absent minded in the second year typing class the students had been taking accuracy tests one graduate student wrote tor for fifteen minutes without error the phenomenon was waa so great that the student became excited and tried to carry out some of the typing equipment its interesting to note what splendid soprano voices some of the graduate girls are developing in the seventh study period which they take in the bookkeeping room the rest ol of the students are dreadfully afraid that these students signals will be heard beard out in the street I 1 and that some well meaning citizen will try to investigate it Is to be hoped however that these girls wont km kill each bac other over such a little thing as a bookkeeping set the rest ot of the students find marjorie Mar jorte and bylls so ferocious that they I 1 dare not interfere and so the feud goes on everyone is hoping that it does not terminate fatally the post graduates have decided to appoint ada wilson and guild watson to represent them in speed tests ot oj any kind they never dreamed that these students could move so rapidly until they gave a demonstration last week all went well except that ada nearly sat on an guild and she sprained her finger tests were given in the pc postgraduate post graduate section of the bookkeeping class last friday it II we judge from the irowna frowns and groans the test not only taxed their ingenuity to the utmost but also brought very few desirable results better luck next time grads post grad 01 0 6 juniors win itin girls class series I 1 monday the most import
