the sharp decline in cotton prices this week the federal farm board has taken the drastic action a of appealing to the governors of fourteen cotton pro states to mobilize all interested agencies to induce growers immediately to destroy one third of the crop in their fields while the boards telegram to the cotton state governors was worded as a suggestion it carried an interred inferred threat that unless the growers in ten of the largest cotton states agreed to this proposition the government agency would let loose its stabilization holdings and thus further depress prices W V W eugene talmadge georgia commissioner of agriculture says that the proposal of the federal farm board to hold off the market its stabilization cotton for one year provided the ten largest cotton growing
