Show 1 I 1 parent teachers meet iii ail I the parent teachers association assort s tion met in the high school auditorium wednesday march a bt t 8 p in the auditorium was filled filed t to 0 capacity the high school band under the able directorship of byron jones gave a fifteen minute concert the business ot of the association was transacted atter after which the splendid program ot of the evening continued A talk on census taking by harry B S joseph 17 S census enumerator tor for this district mr joseph asked the cooperation ot of the people when the census land sus takers begin work wednesday april A pleasant surprise was when the boys chorus made their initial public S appearance ppe arance in two well rendered numbers b era viz boosting the old high school and a nd bells ot of the deep solo dance by anna leavy piano accompaniment compani ment miss kate malone again this pupil ot of our schools showed her professional ability as an entertainer clever indeed Is her dancing act ot of two numbers and we are ready to enter the young lady in contest with any in tha th 0 state music by the high school band A case casa of Sus suspension A one act comedy by ten freshmen much credit Is due miss ballard tor for the splendid manner in which the girls and boys took their parts harvey dabling as the old professor was played with spirit and originality evelyn mcginley McGl nley as the girls matron took the difficult part with credit ruth buth sanger ella don and lavina jackson were charming school girls enid bess as the irish maid left nothing undone to make the part a success ivan stable as the gardener took toofe one back to remote rural districts foster jones jack green and lawrence cunningham were active college lads and did their parts naturally before the play mr alston introduced the champion spellers of this district miss vera isaacson of the lincoln school who won first place much credit Is duo due miss hattle hattie shimming tor for discovering our champion miss nelda marchant Marc bant won second from the jefferson school mr alston submitted a few words to try out the girls to the evident enjoyment of the audience and mr air joseph himself ile he lost a fifty cent bet that neither of the girls could spell hippopotamus they both spelled it correctly harry paid mr john wyckoff called upon mr joseph unexpectedly to render a few selections on the piano he delighted the audience for twenty minutes community singing led by byron jones and mr air joseph at the piano springtime in the Roc kleV meeting adjourned to the air of a march by the high school band everyone voting the affair a social success |
