Show park city consolidated making good progress PARK CITY consolidated CARRYING ON VERY aggressive CAMPAIGN or OF D development E WORK NEARING ilist OBJECTIVE salt lake city utah march 12 1929 the park record park city utah my dear mr I 1 am enclosing herewith a reader park city consolidated which as probably know Is carrying on one of the most aggressive development campaigns in the state ot of utah today I 1 have visited this property several times in the past few months and each time I 1 am more favorably impressed with the outlook this property on account of it having similar geology to that ot of the silver king coalition and also with the intelligent way in which the work Is being directed under the able management ot of geologist tie mr JJ J J beeson and superintendent mr D 1 C despain Desp aln and therefore I 1 predict another really great producer tor for the lamous famous park city mining region in the very near future GEO H WATSON PARK CITY consolidated MINES COMPANY was organized on june 7 1928 under the laws ot of utah it has an authorized capitalization ot of of 0 which only Is issued and outstanding the express purpose ol of the organization of the company was to acquire and develop certain mining proper ties in the park city mining district of utah we have no hesitancy in saying we atles believe the management of the park city consolidated mines company could not be better as it is composed of men of high standing possessed of intimate knowledge of mining and business integrity of the highest order the officers are president george H dern dem vice vicc pre and secretary james H devine vice president and general manager J J beeson treasurer charles H n barton directors the above named with J D stack norman N blye R B porter H M rowe and J L chadwick mr dern dem a resident of salt lake has 1 been helpful in the development of the mineral resources ot of utah tor for more than thirty years he Is at present connected with numerous mining companies and has large property interests throughout the state mr devine Is a prominent carpo corporation po ration attorney of ogden utah mr blye Is a consulting mining engineer of salt bait lake city and was kvas formerly superintendent in of the silver king consolidated mine mr stack Is assistant traffic man p ager of the denver rio blo grande rall ball 1 road with offices in salt lake city mr barton Is president of the national bank of commerce ot of utah and mr porter Is f president of the ogden iron works of I 1 I 1 that city rowe and chadwick are identified with the livestock business 6 and reside in ogden utah mr J J beeson Is a consulting mining geologist t engineer and operator with many years experience in the mines ol of utah and has made examinations in many districts of the west from alaska to south america HISTORY about eight years ago J 3 beeson vice president and general manager of the company and a geologist of high standing was attracted to the parti cular section of the park city district in which the properties controlled by the corporation are located because it was quite apparent to him that certain geo logical conditions would make exploration alon for silver lead ore deposits in the properties under consider consideration atlon very at this was before the original park utah mine discovered its first com mercial merc cial lal ore body since that time not only mr beeson but representatives of a number ot of the mines of the park city district as well as those of the smelting smelling sm elting companies tried to secure options on the ground now controlled by the park city consolidated mines company until recently all efforts to acquire the different properties and consolidate them have proved unavailing during april and may of 1928 however arl mr devine Dev lne and mr beeson accomplished this difficult task in the selection lection ee of the properties now controlled by the park city consolidated mines company careful consideration was war given to the commercial aspect of i the metal production of utah and its relation to the structural geology g the financial history of the more important por tant metal mining districts ot of utah provides interesting reading total value of production has reached well beyond each district has its own record and it Is on the basis of this record that the geology of certain districts la Is discussed herein the mines of the bangham park city uplift and central ore zone have produced almost 10 70 per cent ot of the gross value of the principal metals mined in utah and have paid about 77 per cent of the total dividends this Is a remarkable tact fact it Is still more remarkable that at least 60 00 per cent of the production and over 95 per cent 1 ot I the dividends from mines along this uplift have come from en an area two miles wide extending through the park paris city big and little cottonwood and the bingham mining districts be beginning 9 inning at the eastern eastek e end d ot the P park ark city district and extending to the western end ot of the bingham district a distance of 40 miles the most important man mines c located allocated within the bengham parl park city central ore zones sie aie as follows PARK CITY DISTRICT park city I 1 consolidated mines company undeveloped park utah consolidated which Js is the result of the consolidation of the I 1 original park utah ontario daly daly judge daly west and other properties silver king coalition which now owns many properties operated as individual mines in ill the past keystone and other properties in various stages of development BIG AND LITTLE cottonwood DISTRICTS the iowa copper woodlawn michigan utah prince of wales emma silver alta merger in part wasatch mines columbus rexall and cardiff BINGHAM DISTRICT the lead sil ver mines company bingham mines montana bingham ohio copper utah copper united states mining and smelt ing utah apex and utah delaware formerly the utah consolidated or highland boy mine most of the mines mentioned are the result of consolidations of many of the early day properties and it Is this combined production that has contributed largely to the great production and dividend record of utah PARK CITY MINING DISTRICT where the bangham park city 0 ore e zone passes through the park city mining district there Is a zone of intense fissuring and within which some of the great mines of the district have been in continuous operation for the past forty or fifty years here the dis erict Is situated in the depressed portion of a tilted mountain block where erosion had not been great in fact from the presence of lava flows in the eastern end of the district it appears that erosion has been just sufficient to remove the lava hows flows from the larger part of the area the rock pressure has not lot been treat great and there has been a tree free circulation of 0 the mineralizing mineral izing solutions along the fissures the result has been the formation of great ore deposits the fact that the properties of the eark carls city consolidated mines company aggregating over acres lie ile entirely within the bingham park city central ore zone Is of utmost importance in the development of its holdings because it gives much greater promise to the possibility lity of finding large commercial deposits the deductions arrived at while sounding somewhat theoretical are based on the history of production for many years on the basis of this same reasoning geologist beeson selected and consolidated soli dated groups of mining claims in the bingham mining district and found a large silver lead ore body mr beeson had bad no hesitancy in recommending the development ot of the properties controlled by the park city consolidated mines company the properties of this company are located in the eastern end of ane park city region to be exact they are located in tile the uintah and blue ledge mining districts they lie about one mile east ot of the town of park city and parallel the ontario drain tunnel for about feet the southern boundary being approximately 1000 feet north and parallel to the drain tunnel referred to along its v western estern end the e estate tate of the park city consolidated M mines nes company has a width of almost a mile it Is a noteworthy fact that it extends along the northern boundary of the park utah consolidated mines miner company estate for more than a mile the original pa park k utah ore body lies only 2 2500 feet south of the boundary of the park city consolidated soli dated mines company estate the distance from salt sait lake city to the park city consolidated mines company properties Is about 33 miles over a good automobile highway during th the greater part of the year an automobile may be driven from salt lake city to the properties in about one and one half hours the four contiguous groups of mining claims controlled by the park city consolidated soli dated mines company constitute the cream of the undeveloped ground in the eastern section of the palk paik city district districts advantageously located with respect to proximity to production comar comprising ring 0 over acres the area should give long life to the enterprise the climate at the park city consolidated soli Boli dated mines company properties Is such that operations can be carried on throughout the entire year the plant and equipment at present installed and in operation Is located at an elevation of about feet above sea level at this elevation the winter season Is not severe 1 continued on pago three park city consolidated making good progress continued from page one supplies can be shipped direct from salt laks lake city over railroads to wt within thin hall a mile of the tunnel where operations one have been inaugurated by the company in th the 0 event ore deposits are developed these railroad facilities can bo be extended to the portal ot of the main tunnel under such conditions the cost 0 of freight to the mine and cost ot of shipment of ores to the smelters shelters sm elters in salt lake valley will be very reasonable electrical power la Is already at the property through the recent extension of the voltage transmission line of the utah power light company a distance of 1600 feet water tor for domestic purposes at the properties Is about all that will be required at present this supply can be increased from nearby springs at present the mine workings are dry but with 1 deeper operations it la is quite likely that sufficient water will be deve developed lopea tor for mining and milling operations should this become necessary at the present time the company need not anticipate any serious interference in its operations due to large hows flows ol of water the present i underground workings are located about feet above and not far distant from the ontario drain tunnel this opinion Is further strengthened by the tact fact that the tee queen esther mining company the property of which Is located about three fourths ot of a mile further away from the drain tunnel to the north has haa sunk a shaft to the depth of about feet and thus far has encountered no trouble with water as surface waters readily drain away to open fissures GENERAL GEOLOGY little need be said bald about the general geology and the ore deposits of the park city district because they are so well known generally to those interested in mining to those however who are especially interested in this district a more comprehensive treatise on the geology can be had at almost any public library in U S geological survey bulletin no mo 77 by john M boutwell in order however to make this report as complete as possible some of the outstanding geologic features ot of the district will be summarized sedimentary rocks the sedimentary rocks comprising the park city district i I 1 are shown he on the accompanying geologic section I 1 the deepest rocks exposed in the mines j of the tha park city district belong to a series ot with inter bedded ilme stones at least leet feet in thickness called the intercalated series by the earlier geologists the weber or ontario quartzite as generally referred to in the part park city lel strict Is the upper 1600 feet ot of the intercalated series it la Is a comparatively dively pure quartzite quite iree free from limestone beds in this formation the tha ontario mine and the original park utah I 1 i mine were opened up in these mines the i ores aro largely conla confined ned to a zone ot of ini tenso tense fissuring assuring an and d in the quartzite tho the pork park city limestone formation tor matlon with a thickness ot of about feet overlies over lies the weber quartzite it Is in this formation that the great bonanza replacement ore bodies ol of the park city district have been found development WORK since starting underground operations about october 10 1928 work has been confined to crosscutting the principal fissures of the formation to ascertain the most strongly mineralized one of the system before sinking inking to the silver king ore horia horizon on lying about feet above the ontario quartzite operations for the most part have been carried on in a black carbonaceous bonace ous shale lying to feet up from the bottom of the park city formation which Is the principal ore bearling bearing I 1 member ot of the district at a point about teet feet from the portal ot of the roosevelt tunnel a drift has been driven following no 1 fissure in a north 30 degrees easterly direction instead of one good fissure according to mr beeson numerous fissures have been exposed some of which contain quartz proving I 1 the ascending movement of mineralize ing solutions during the latter part ot of november the park paris city consolidated increased its force and started driving the no 2 crosscut north to prospect anther another 0 fissure zone both headings are to be continued in order to explore various fissures on tile the roosevelt tunnel level and then a suitable spot for sinking a shaft to feet down to the silver king ore horizon will be chosen this work ot of sinking will be commenced in the tha very near future when ore Is discovered on one level the shaft will be sunk still deeper and drifts will be extended to cut the downward continuation ot of the ore body the development work manager beeson says should be comparatively simple because from present indications there thera ore are no large larga faults to be encountered near the location of tunnel no 1 there are two strong fl the roosevelt and the mckinley both ot of which strike north 85 degrees east the roosevelt fissure dips about 60 50 degrees south and has been exposed by prospect cuts and some borne quartz found near the top ot of the park par city limestone the mckinley fissure la is indicated by a pronounced depression pres slon through the mountain and by a strong quartz vein across deer valley to the west between the roosevelt and mckinley fissures there Is a small northeast porphyry dike the fissures are dipping toward each other and striking about parallel in the event that aliza tion has been intense there Is a good possibility under these conditions of encountering ore without a large amount of development work therefore ore may be ba encountered at any time this certainly should have a tendency to add to tho the speculative attra attractions chions of the stock of the company it would be a ve very ry much different question it the companas comp anys plans called for a long drawn out campaign of development work before any objectives could tio be reached EQUIPMENT the park city consolidated mines company has equipped its property in a fashion and on a scale that might be expected of the men comprising the management A compressor house a and nd machine shop has been erected in it there Is installed an ingersoll rand kand sir air compressor capacity cubic feet of tree free air per minute at an a altitude of feet this compressor Is driven by 11 P general electric motor with a short belt the company has haa also |
