Show MORE WALKS TO BE BUILT As soon as preliminaries are arranged by city federal site being cleared councilmen to report in writing thursday evening the city bouncil fo uncil held its second meeting for the mont month h nothing of any particular import came before tile the meeting the principal dihe assion was concerning new cement walks upon which work will commence just as soon as tile the necessary preliminaries as regards publication of notices and ordinances are completed alamor alayor welsh and all his hii colleagues lea aes ues were present attorney frank evans evang was present as legal advisor and as usual gave sound advice on many questions scions referred to him the ini minu tits of previous meeting ing were read and approved reports to be in writing councilman mcgill made a verbal report to the effect that oi wap aap iap of new water system was well under way and would be of great service to city when completed A blue print of system is already in hands of recorder holland but it is not com councilman thompson here suggested that hereafter all reports pora from different committees be presented in writing so that same could be filed for future reference and enable recorder to make correct entries in records tile the suggestion t was vas approved and hereafter verbal reports will be out of order fourth of july councilmen megill reported to council that lie had presided at citizen s meeting 0 to arrange for a ath of july celebration and that arran arrangements cements for s good time were well und under er way new sidewalks councilman of the committee on streets alleys and bridges made a verbal report to tile the effect that action had been taken by committee to clear fea federal building site and that work would be commenced on new side walks as soon as possible then followed a ion long k discussion sion regarding the construction of walks curbing and guttering 0 etc the advise of attorney evans was followed however and work will not be commenced until the paving district has been definitely defined and a nd intent of law followed li in every particular the preliminaries arie s will tike about three weeks notice to be published councilman emilii presented a resolution on ord ordering erino notice noffie e of proposed paving to lie be published in keeford which was carried this notice will appear appeal in our oar next issue time to pay up councilman thompson asked present status of indebtedness for sidewalks constructed construe td last fall asked if recorder had sent out notices as provided by ordinance sirs mrs holland informed council that no delinquent notices had been sent hent out since she had been in office she was in instructed ted to send out notices to those delinquent for sidewalk tax find and to those also second payment is due to get estimates on motion of councilman megill mcgill the committee on streets alleys and bridges was instructed to get estimates on different grades of curb and guttering and concrete work during the discussion on this motion thompson made logical remarks on public improvements which were coincided in by the other members wants crossings repaired councilman paull thought it about time to repair the crossings ia s the present condition ot of 81 sime me lie he said raid was a disgrace and as ai it was up to the city to fix them lie he thought it should be done right away lie ile was a gred agreed with and on motion of thompson the matter was referred to committee on streets alleys and bridges with power to act A wise suggestion councilman paull called attention to the dangerous condition of the old staple hall site and suggested that a railing pe be placed ed at edge of walk to prevent possible accidents on su suggestion of attorney evans the recorder was instructed to notify Me mcgurrin Gurrin of salt lake to at once provide proper protection adjourned Adjourn edon on motion of thompson |
