Show 1 I 1 WE wistern STERN PACIFIC ROAD will be completed by january 1 1909 1 the western pacific will reduce the time of its building from salt lake city to san francisco by six months andr and it if possible a year its engineering department hopes to have tho entire lino line completed and ready for use im on january 1 1909 with through passenger and freight trains from san francisco to baltimore this move is made as a i result of the desire of the goulds to get ino injo san Francl francisco in time to grow up with the new business lines of this city forty seven miles of track have been laid out of salt lake city the line Is now within sixty five miles of the nevada line and construction engines are running over it the grading in fit nevada and california is progressing the long st stretch r etch across the desert is as yet untouched the southern pacific and western pacific officials through now new york instructions from harriman Harrl man and gauld are not to fight each other on matters pertaining to western pacific rights ot of way where they encroach on southern pacific lands between oak land and Stockton and between stock 7 ton and oroville all disputes in tho the territory mentioned are to be submitted to arbitration and the arbitration boards assessed valuation of land belonging to the southern pacific and desired by the western pacific is to be paid by the latter without question this agreement will expedito expedite construction work by the gould line and removes a certain amount of af facial friction between the two railroad corporations |
