Show washington DEMOCRATS CONVENE delegation to national convention contains seven hearst men out of ten Olymp la wash may S abe selection ot a delegation to the democratic convention seven of whom are considered favorable to the candidacy of william R hearst tor president and ahrea opposed and the adap afon of resolutions dealing with national issues and containing an endorsement dor of ox senator turner of spokane for vice president constituted the work of the democratic state convention ven tion which closed its labors at 7 this evening last night and up to the hour of preliminary organization it appeared that si contest over the endorsements to be contained in the instructions must be carried out on the floor of the convention but when the test came cooler counsels prevailed and a compromise program was carried through with little friction the hearst men who had been i ing for a definite instruction for their candidate contented themselves with a majority of the delegation to st absolutely as to president but tied to a unit rule while the turner men accepted a strong endorsement of turner tor vice president without a definite tie up of any presidential candidate the resolutions endorse the national platforms of 1896 and 1900 and insist on the nomination of candidates in sympathy herewith the national administration is censured tor alleged extravagance trava gance and corruption in its de apartments part ments and tor embroilment in old world controversies the resolutions demand a cessation of militarism imperialism and colonialism and call for an income tax and inheritance tax destruction st of trusts and removal of unnecessary tariff walls they express in the capacity fidelity and integrity of W J bryan the delegation elected to the national convention follow R W starr W J byham at M boolman B 0 mallon john Y terry L C oilman frank H cole henry blackman frank hogan and A J splawn |
