Show I 1 OF JOSEPH killed by a street car in los angeles vas bp M of oden and r at bouti souti ern pacific shops where he was foreman yesterday a telegram was received 10 ogden which conveyed the distressing news at the accidental death of joseph ludwig until recently general foreman of the southern pacific shops in this city no details of the accident were given except that he was struck by a street car while crossing downey street los angeles and had died from the injuries received the telegram was from john F becker and was to joseph ludwig jr about three weeks ago sir ludwig went to california on account of falling health in company with mr decker word has been received that in the balmy climate of southern california bis health was improving and fals friends were rejoicing over that tact when the distressing news of his sudden death was received mr ludwig was well known in og ien and was very popular among his acquaintances especially with the men maloyed mp loyed under him he came to this country from germany at the age of 13 years and performed important service for the government during the war of the rebellion when he had charge I 1 in the mechanical department of he railroad division operating in connection with moving troops to the front after that he came west and was tor mcany years employed by the southern pacific company at oakland and later took charge of the railroad chops at terrace and when those shops were moved to ogden about iten years ago he was placed in charge of the combined shops as general foreman he leaves a wife and seven children in ogden he has been employed tor the railroad company about 25 years the body will be brought to ogden for interment |
