Show NOTICE TO CON I 1 hat I 1 VMS specifications for a bridge to be constructed ted across weber river by weber county state of utah on or near the section line between sections 23 and 24 in township 6 north of 0 range 2 west of the salt lake meridian U S survey in weber county state of 0 utah the bridge to be of steel trusses feet long between pin centera IS 18 foot roadway in the clear and to rest upon iron column abutments at each end in a shoe of the usual form 2nd and the abutments shall consist of two iron columns at each end of the bridge properly tied and trussed together with tie braces and laterals literals late rals the columns to be not less than 42 inches diameter to bo be composed of sheets A 14 inches in thickness riveted together each column to bo be 24 feet long to be set in the earth to such a depth as 03 the engineer shall direct and 3 plies piles 30 feet long driven inside ot of each to a solid foundation and to extend into the iron pier at least 8 feet all sand and earth to be removed from the inside of the columns and filled with concrete composed of portland cem cement C nt sand and gravel in proportion 1 3 and 5 ard 3rd the members 0 athe bridge shall be sufficient to sustain a moving load of 1400 pounds to the lineal foot rh to be 13 lines of joists foists 3 by 14 inches bridged the floor to be ot of two layers ot of planks two and three inches respectively the wheel guard and hub plank to be 3 by 6 inches all ot of oregon fir free from all injurious defects ath approaches to be constructed at each end each 18 feet long the outer end of the joists foists resting on piles driven at least 15 feet deep capped with timber 10 by 10 inches square drift pinned to each pile the joists foists and flooring to be in all respects the same as those specified for the bridge the outer side of the piles to be planked blanked with plank 2 inches thick of sufficient length to support the earthen embankment to be raised for the roadway ath on the north side of the river and extending from the bridge up stream twenty piles to be driven 6 5 feet apart each pile to be not less than thirty feet long located as the engineer shall direct and driven to a solid foundation to the satisfaction and acceptance cep tance of the engineer in charge of the work each bidder on the above described bridge shall be required to submit with his bid drawings showing the general form of 0 the structure he proposes to erect also a stra strain in sheet showing the length and helgoth of the span the number and length ot of the panels width of the roadway carrying capacity of the bridge e the number of pieces size of each and kind of material in all the members and the maximum strain on each the ultimate strength and the allowed unit strains tor for different kinds of materials with a general description of the details ot of construction and workmanship and different qualities of the different materials to be used A certified check in the sum ot must accompany each bid and be forfeited to weber county in case the successful bidder shall fall to enter into contract with weber county tor for the construction of said bridge in accordance cor dance with these specifications and his proposal and execute a bond conditioned on the faithful perform 2000 within tour four days after the acceptance cep tance of the bid and the awarding of the contract all bids plans and specifications and strain sheets conforming to the foregoing must be filed in tho the office of the county clerk on or before 12 noon standard time on the day of december A D 1898 at which time all bids will be opened the county commissioners reserve the right to reject any or all bids by order of the board of county commissioners of weber county state of utah NEWTON FARR clerk byl by L R CAHOON deputy clerk |
