Show THE APPROACH OP CHRISTMAS all christianity 3 supposed to re coloe on christmas day and greet the birthday of the lowly one with hearts but as we ap tho greatest day of the year and look around us we find life has much ot misery in it and poverty bows down many a noble head the grandest christmas day this nation could celebrate would be one on which it could be truthfully said that not a child in the land was without the necessities of life and would not be during christmas tide but the happy contemplation seems co far beyond the reach of human kind aa to be looked upon as an impossibility yet it should not be an impossibility in this country of oura where the farmer raises more than he can sell and the manufacturer complains of being over stocked and though apparently great obstacles must first be overcome christianity should labor from one christmas to the next in the hope of realizing an observance of the birth of christ that would be without the heartaches and the mental anguish that must be ever with the worthy poor and the children of even the unworthy poor how many minions in the realms of innocent childhood hear of santa claus but see him not on christmas eve in this wonderfully resourceful country of ours and bringing the picture nearer to view how many of the little ones that cross our pathway each day in and out of the city of ogden will awaken on the day of the nativity and tail to find their stockings filled with joy creating surprises we dare say those in our own community will number many but while there Is a way of overcoming these sad phases of life it should not be so this Is tho time for charity to be abroad in the land for charity is the true saint nick the most delightful must como to those who caring tor their own first find means and time to give to some deserving poverty stricken family in order that they may see a gleam of sunshine break through the dark clouds of adversity and feel the touch of human kindness |
