It is hoped that ,ur people will pay up their debts wita the money thus obtained, obtain-ed, instead oi buying new wagons, buggies, bug-gies, and niac'unery, which thry could do without fur a time, at least. The track layiuj on the D. & R. G. R. R. is progressing very rapidly and were it not for grading being behind time the iron horse might have been iu our town. Tn switches at the lnd anola station are laid ami we are mfoimed that the men could lay two miles of rail in a day if the material was at hand, and the grading done. Rumor has it that Mauti will be the terminus lor this winter at least, if so, we pity Manti, as we will be very glad when it has passed our town. Coal hauling has begun in good earnest, earn-est, scores of teams ate continually passing pass-ing through our towns making plenty ol dust and noise. Most ol the coal is brought from the Deseret Coal Mine, which is under the nianagnient of II. Cailston Sin, of our town. The mine has lieeu greatly improved this season and the accomodations for load- iug ara first class. It is generally understood under-stood ttiut Mr. Carlstnn will do well this season. ahe has verv little opposition in the coal trade. The toll gate, also under the same management, is doing good business as it will no doubt bring several sever-al hundred dollars from tie men, above what was received last year. The road is very good considering the amount o( travel, and but very lew complain at paying the toll required. G. |
