Show TO IMPROVE BRI6HAM SERVICE Tho Rapid Transit company la operating op-erating twenty four trains a day between be-tween Ogden and Brlgham city, twelve trains each way, beginning In the morning at G:3o and continuing until 11:00 o'clock at n'ght- Tho trains are operated every 90 minutes and tho cara stop at every point along tho road, to meet the convenience of the traveler. This Is considered a splendid splen-did service as compared with steam service between tho two cities, but it will bo much Improved, says Superintendent Sup-erintendent Bailey, ns soon a the "cut off by way of Hairlavllle is built and tho roadbed along the entire line is more heavily balasted. The superintendent superin-tendent says that an hour service, including in-cluding all stopa, will be given at that time, and the cars will slop for passengers pas-sengers all along the inc. A Sat Lake paper states that tho Rapid Transit company Is not making as good a rate as the Utah Light & Railway company Is making on Its lnterurbnn road between Salt Lake and Sandy, a distance of twelve mlle.s. The rate over that road Is stated to he twenty cents one wav, or a little more than 1 2-1 cents per mile. It Is twenty-two miles from Ogden to Brig-ham, Brig-ham, making the round trip forty-four miles. Commutation tickets may be purchased for SO cents that will enable the purchaser to ride both ways between be-tween the two cities, which is at the rate of a little lesn than 2 cents per mile. A mileage book Is offered by the company which contains 500 trips from 0?den to Brlgham city for 58.75 mak'ng the rate le6s than 1 3-4 cents per mile, and lower than the rate between be-tween Salt Lake and Sandy. The paper In question also' states that the Oregon Short Lino contemplates contem-plates putting motor care on the road between Ogden and Briirham city for the purpose of competing with the ln-terurban ln-terurban road of the Rapid Trans't company, and maintains that while the difference In the fare between the two companies 13 twenty-five cent In favor of the electric line, the motor will make the run in 45 minutes, while the electric car makes it in 90 minutes. "While this Is true in the main." says Superintendent Bailey, the reasoning Is false because the advantage ad-vantage will come to the traveling public on the electric line by virtue of the fact that the latter runs a train every 00 minutes of the day, and will give a one-hour service in tho near give a onc-nour service in tno near future, with the privilege of boarding the train or alighting- from it at appoint ap-point between the two cities, while the steam road runs, not to exceed three trains each day with no stop-off privileges." |
