Show HOUSES ARE COMING DOWN I Contractor Charles Richardson began be-gan the actual work of razing the condemned building's on the Hudson avenue right-of-way this morning, when a crew of eight men were put to work tearing down the Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth street buildings formerly occupied occu-pied by the stock exchange and real estate offices. Ralph Guthrie, the proprietor of the stock exchange, has moved big offices, and the building has been vacant tor several days. With two exceptions, all of the business bus-iness men In the condemned district have secured other locations and have either moved, or are making Immediate Immed-iate preparations for moving into their new quarters. While the " Wessler brothers havo failed to secure a suitable suit-able location, they are storing their saloon fixtures so that their Twenty-filth Twenty-filth street place Is already closed. J. W. McKenna. the other Twenty-filth street saloonlst, has also had trouble in finding a suitable location and will most likely be compelled to store the fixtures for the time being. The American Tea company, which Is going out of business, is getting ready for immediate evacuation as is also Jeweler Smallej, who has leased leas-ed a Twenty-fifth street room. It is not likely that the work of Contractor Richardson will be In any way delayed by the occupants of the buildings which he is to raze. This morning the contractor sold the two Klesel buildings within tho Hudson avenue district opening on Twenty-fourth street for $2. hi. |
