Show THUG STRIKES D01MAN While on her way to the Union depot de-pot early last evening. Mrs. James Sorenson was knocked down and robbed rob-bed by a footpad at the east end of the Twenty-fourth street viaduct. The thu? escaped with a -Handbag containing contain-ing $2.".o In cash, a pair of gloves and several other minor articles. The holdup occurred about 7:30 o'clock. As the woman wa3 walkln; nouth on Wall avenue the thug Jumped Jump-ed from his place of concealment nnd struck her a stunning blow on the head She fell to I he sidewalk and the man snatched her handbag. He then made his escape by running through the railroad yards and had disappeared from iew before a man. whoso attention had been attracted by the woman's screams, had arrived on the scene. Officer Richardson, who was on duty at the depot, was summoned at once nud he made a thorough search for the woman's assailant, but was unable to locate anybody who answered to the description of the footpad. Mrs. Sorenson stated that the man was tall and wore a light hat. She was not badly injured as a result re-sult of tho Mow she received and was able to return to her homo. |
